“A Great Place to Stay with a Family”

We happened to find this lovely, modest hotel through Expedia. Although we had prior experience in Cozumel, we had never stayed 'north' of the town center -- and hadn't visited since the cruise visitation sort of engulfed the town. We loved Sol Cabanas! It was clean and comfortable and the staff was very helpful. We have a little 6-yr old, and the kid's pool and abundant children were a BIG hit! It was easy to get into town and travel from the hotel. The on-site restaurant provided good Mexican food (if not extravagantly excellent) -- breakfasts were hearty. All in all, we feel extremely lucky to have 'fallen' into such a pleasant hotel. We would certainly come back -- and see if we could grab one of the pool side cabins.

This hotel surprised me a little because it is very different than hotels in the U.S. There is no carpet? Then it rained. Then we went to the beach. Rock floor... great idea! The hotel is made of concrete? Then it got 98 degrees outside, but only 74 degrees inside... great idea! There are little ghecko lizards on the walls? But there are no bugs...great idea! (Plus they're really cute). The staff was amazing and very helpful in regards to local areas, help getting tours, etc. The waiters in the restaurant was very very helpful, courteous, and very friendly. The worst thing that happened during out stay, is that we had to eventually leave to return home. I liked everybody so much that I am going to make it a point to write to them, and to stay in touch until we get a chance to visit them again.

“Cozumel's best kept secret”

What a wonderful hotel! Most rooms have an ocean view and they are clean and comfortable. The staff was really helpful and polite. The grounds are beautiful and the beaches are clean with plenty of chairs and palapas. Great family hotel with plenty of other children for my child to stay entertained. I will definitely go back to this hotel when we visit again.

Skip Sol Cabanas if you have kids that need constant entertainment or if you are looking for wild and crazy nights. If you want to stay on one of the nicest beaches with some of the best snorkeling Cozumel has to offer.... If you prefer peaceful relaxation in a "local" environment vs. an all-inclusive americanized resort... you might love Sol Cabanas as much as we do! The food is simple and delicious; Trinidad runs the bar at the pool with warmth and humor (ask to see pix of his grandchildren and watch him light up!). I plan to return often. The best recommendation I can give is say that each time we go there we meet people who have been coming back for 10, 20, even 25 years!

“A Great Little Getaway”

The staff here is so friendly. You will feel like you have known them forever. The hotel is small and quiet but everything you need for the perfect vacation. If you need a lot of action this is probably not the place for you but if you want the perfect quiet and comfortable getaway it is perfect. We love Sol Cabanas and we will keep going back!

If you want a laid back vacation away from the 'tourist traps' and overzealous vendors, this is your place. The beach is beutiful . . . the hotel is not a five star, but is perfectly comfortable and the staff friendly. We will go back again and agains!!!

“Very fun and relaxing”

Our trip to the Cabanas was excellent. It is a great place to stay. It isn't fancy or extravagent like one of the big resorts but it is peaceful and relaxing. The beach in front of the hotel is very nice with great snorkeling. The restuarant is excellent and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

“Fine small hotel”

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel, especially once we got things established. The room wasn't ready when we arrived, so they put us in a non-ocean-front room for the first night. The second room was behind a building -- very little ocean view -- so I requested a better room, and they obliged by the following day. Be sure to ask for an oceanfront room in the main building. The staff was laid back but responsive to our needs. The beach is fine, the snorkeling good. The restaurant food is very good, and the location and view from it are unbeatable. This is not a resort, but a fine hotel if you don't need a resort or four star service. Remember: no internet, no TV, not many amenities. I would recommend it to some, but not all.
