The Helmsley's lobby is richly appointed with Oriental rugs, wingback chairs, gilt-framed landscapes, and crystal chandeliers. One floor below, a fitness room features personal training for a fee by Radu, Cindy Crawford's trainer, or one of his staff. The pleasures of Central Park are 1 block away. Complimentary short-term parking is available for people visiting guests. A 24-hour business center includes high-speed Internet access (surcharge).

This 17-story Helmsley Carlton House Hotel on the Upper East Side has 161 extra-spacious suites and apartments. Accommodations are on floors 3 to 16. Suites are individually decorated in French country, American Colonial, Chinoiserie, and other traditional styles. Bedrooms feature matching draperies, bedspreads, and upholstered headboards. Floors are wood with Oriental rugs, or fully carpeted. Closets offer abundant space.
