“Great ski-in/ski-out location”

This hotel provided wonderful ski-in/ski-out accommodations. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The resturant served good food and happy hour at the bar was a welcome addition. My King bed room was equiped with a computer system. I had a portable and the wi-fi service was great. A ski shop is located right in the hotel. The hot tub was nice to relax in and located short steps from my room. If you can get a good rate this is a nice place to stay.

This hotel has a lot of amenities, and is right next to the gondola. It is clean, friendly and affordable. The french fries, and chicken wings were great too!!

great little "moderate" hotel -- clean and comfortable, plus secure storage area for mountain bikes. very helpful staff, too. dogs are allowed during the summer season.

“Ski in - Ski out, Hot tub & Heated Pool”

We had a great time at this undervalued facility. The staff was great and very accomodating, the room was clean and neat, bit cozy for me, my wife & 2 teenage daughters, but we had a great time. The convenient and hospitable restaurant served us terrific meals, the lobby area was warm and cozy, with a fire going all of the time, and the easy easy easy access to the Steamboat Springs ski lifts & gondola was a real treat for us, we right there isn the middle of it all. We will be back!

We loved our stay. The only complaint I have is the very limited continental breakfast.

“Quiet and convenient”

This year, we used Expedia directly to make our reservations -- there was no confusion, the room was exactly as requested. (last year, we linked through some other local "Steamboat" web site, and things got pretty confused) The hotel site is fairly quiet, very scenic with nice landscaping (except for some nearby construction activity), and convenient to many restaurants and stores. Rooms are medium quality, seems like they used to have microwaves, but not any longer(?), but do have mini refrigerators. Also a small "balcony" overlook for each room (about 4 x 4 ft.). They have a reserved section for pet owners. Only issue we had, is even though the property is "nonsmoking", they seemed to have problems with repeated heavy smoking in some rooms, noticed it also in the lobby, etc. They need to be more proactive on this issue. Big downer: there is a proposal to tear down this nice property and replace it with a condo development -- like Steamboat isn't already overflowing with condos stacked on top of condos next door to more condos. That would be a shame...

“Can't wait to go back next year”

Our stay at the Ptarmigan was excellent, the convenience of being close to the slopes, the Restaurant and the ski rentals. It was clean and the staff was very helpful.Definitely I'll choose the Ptarmigan for next year.
