“Cream of the Crop in the heart of Christchurch's City Center”
We had a wonderful experience in every aspect! The staff of the Grand Chancellor Christchurch is fabulous - they are extremely friendly, offer great advice, and are clearly dedicated to providing excellent service to their guests. We were very impressed from arrival to departure and highly recommend booking your Christchurch stay here...undoubtly, we will return when in Christchurch again!
“Two Night Stay”
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Food was good, but service a bit slow.
“Good central location”
The Grand Chancellor Christchurch is in a good central location. Call for directions first though, if you haven't been to Christchurch because the streets take some getting used to. Overall a nice hotel at a good price in a beautiful part of the world.
“PROFESSIONALLY RUN”
Arrived weary & tired to a welcoming smile & no paperwork to register as a guest because I had booked via expedia This hotel is clean, well maintained & all staff friendly & invisibly efficient ie they seem to just pop-up just when you need them. Positioned perfectly in the hub of central Christchurch, but you cant hear the hustle & bustle of the main st below.

After a very long journey, it was very nice to arrive at a nice hotel. Staff was very friendly and very helpful.
“Best deal in Christchurch”
This hotel was fantastic. What a great value. The concierge was absolutely fantastic and helped us multiple times finding restaurants and making reservations and booking transportation for us. What a blessing.
“Accomodating”
I arrived early (9 a.m.) at the hotel from an international flight. Not only did they check me in early, but gave me a corner room with a spectacular view of the city. Very friendly staff!
“Very clean and centrally located hotel”
This hotel is accessible to the tourist office, bus depot, and tourist bus departure area. It is a safe place and is walking distance to many restaurants and stores! The hotel is well-maintained with very respectful staff. The hotel rooms are cleaned and supplies are updated daily. The hotel has a working heater, air conditioner, refrigerator and television with remote control. Huge bathroom and closet space! Quiet rooms. The hotel has elevators and the hallways are maintained.
“Good location but a hint for parking”
Everything inside the hotel was great. Our only issue was the parking -----you had to pay top dollar. We learned on our second day that if you arrive after 5pm and leave before 10am it is only $5.
“Nicely remodeled, but still showing signs of age”
We had selected one of the remodeled "executive" rooms which are nicely updated. Having stayed in a standard room the previous year, the remodeled units are much nicer. One main disappointment was the bathroom had a urine odor which despite complaints, could not be corrected by housekeeping. This building is old so this may be from the floor drain and old pipes. Also, the hotel's charges for phone calls are on the high side compared to other places we stayed.
