“loud and tired”
Having stayed at 4 other hotels in NZ already, I was a bit disappointed with this one. It seemed stuck in the 70's for both decor and age of the room. It was also extremely loud at night since the cars came around the corner on the road below and floored it to continue on the straight away. Since the room had loads of windows(which was nice) there was a lot of sound transfer. There were major stains on the carpet, a cracked mirror in the bathroom, a broken toilet paper dispenser, and the trim was in serious need of repainting, but the rest of the place seemed very clean. The look of the room reminded me of someone's basement apartment, but with a nice balcony outside. The bathroom was straight out of another era, and you had better be awake when your roommate used the metal floored shower, or you soon would, be since it was LOUD! Parking was also interesting and tight, but free. Having said all that, they were very helpful and friendly, and the kitchen might have been nice if we were staying longer. The room was also very large and spacious. I would definitely request a room in the back of the building away from the corner if noise is an issue for you.
