“An excellent hotel, very friendly with superb service.”

The only problems were 1) lack of lift 2) the shower was a hand held tap attachment with no shower curtain

“A Welcome Break....”

We had read guest reviews of the Portelet before travelling so we were prepared for an old- fashioned hotel, a 'step back in time' and that was just what we got. The rooms are not ultra modern,'noughties' minimalist in style and don't boast sky television but were comfortable and spotlessly clean. The restaurant was wonderful value with good food, great waiter service and a pianist setting the mood every evening. We ate out a couple of times but the hotel experience was far superior. The pool and communal areas were very well kept and the hotel's position on the cliff top offered great walks with spectacular views over the bay. It's not the holiday we usually book, but it was a lovely, relaxing, old fashioned holiday!

“A wonderful experience from start to finish”

A very comfortable hotel, with a wonderful view overlooking St Brelades Bay. The hotel staff are very friendly and provide a wonderful service. The nightly entertainment was good ranging from a resident duo, a fortnighly male singer and regular disco on different nights. The room was comfortable and of a good size. The best bit was the dining. The choice and quality of meals was fantastic and the service could not have been better. This was our second visit and we will be returning. There was a dress code for dinner. Most guests had returned to the hotel year after year and there were many faces we recognised from the previous year. We were sad to come home. A free bus service was provided into St Helier Monday to Saturday leaving the hotel at 9.30 am and returning at 1.00 pm which was ample time to do any shopping.

“A fabulous weekend break”

I can not recommend the hotel highly enough. Clean, wonderful cuisine, friendly and helpful staff and the most amazing view over St Brelades Bay from the bathroom window. Although seeming quite like a step back in time, it was a step back to days of people being courteous and proud of doing a good job. I will certainly be going back there again!

“will return,”

having read the reviews we were ready for the "step back in time" feeling, and the guests being at least 30 years older than us and enjoying their retirement, which i must say was a pleasure, people that are polite ,dress for dinner ,always say good mornig, and no football shirts , shorts trainers or loud drunks ,the staff are superb, and the food is top class ,5 course evening meal for under twenty pounds a head , served by the excellent staff ,yes the rooms are a bit dated ,and no shower as such, but we only used the room to sleep and to get washed and changed ,perfect.the evening entertainment was not for me,but my wife enjoyed it ,if you can waltz or rummber you will love it,overall a superb hotel.

“Excellent Staff”

All the hotel staff were extremely helpful, pleasant and courteous. Hotel location is lovely - rural without being too remote, and the views from the pool and dining room are fantastic.

“Great Service but Faded Fabric”

Due for total re-furb at end of 2008 season but present ancient interior more than made up for by cleanliness and superb staff service. Only glitch was at checkout when receptionist attempted to get me to wait until she had sorted out her change drawer (7.30 am Sunday ) before taking cash for 3 cups of coffee. No understanding that I was about to catch a plane and couldn`t really hang about. I had to be a wee bit brusque to get things moving and not miss my flight !

“hotel ye olde world”

We have just come back from a wonderful week at the Portelet hotel. Can't recommend the food highly enough, wonderful. The Maitre'd and his staff were all excellent, mostly Portugese so some times it was difficult to understand them but we managed. The rooms were very clean and 4 channels were enough for us. We brought a bus pass instead of hiring a car and we still managed to get around ok. We would go back again as I said previously its like stepping back in time LOVELY
