“Thundercloud Lodge”

While the Thundercloud is NOT a 5-star resort by any means, you get what you pay for. I wanted a shower and a bed (after running the recent Tough Mudder race), and you can't beat Thundercloud for the price. The owner went above and beyond the call-of-duty to make sure we were happy - agreeing to change our room a couple of times to make sure we were happy, and even comping us an extra night! Yes, the paint was a chipping and the walls & floors had some bumps in them...but who cares? If you are anuppity type of person who wants luxury, then this is not the place for you. If you are just looking for a reasonably priced place to crash, you can't beat the Thundercloud!

“A GOOD PLACE TO CRASH BEFROE HITTING THE SLOPES”

This hotel is sort of the "Circus-Circus" of Big Bear, not a very fancy hotel but decent and inexpensive. Room is clean overall, furniture old and very stingy on shampoos, towels etc., but if you are in town for the slopes and just need a place to crash then this place is acceptable.

This resort was not as bad as the other reviews reported. Yes, we could not go swimming (the outdoor pool was empty and the indoor pool was ice cold and dirty). But the location was great and the staff was both kind and accomodating. My recommendation, if possible, would be to stay in one of the suites, they are in much better repair and much cleaner than the single rooms for about the same price. Besides, the suites have a small kitchen so you can save money on eating out and will not have to eat the packaged donuts that are provided by the resort. :) In my opinion, the Tundercloud Resort is the equivalent to a cabin style Motel 6 or Travelodge.

While it wasnt a fabulous hotel it wasnt as bad as the reviews made it sound like

The frontdesk person was really nice but the quality of the hotel sucked.

Would not recommend to others. The room was okay until we saw aunts crawling around the dresser and some even in the beds. The restroom floor was cracked and aunts were crawling around there as well. The faucet was not in good condition either, it leaked at all times. Will not stay in this hotel if we were to visit city again.

“Overpriced”

Thundercloud "Resort" overpriced and dated. Kinda creepy, decent location. Pilot light on heater was out, window was out of it's frame, it's winter and cold. The guy at the front desk was nice, but the place is really a dive. Bathroom was cleaner then I expected.
