“Candy Hostel -- Comfortable Stay”

Candy Hostel offers comfortable accommodations at inexpensive rates (for Manhattan). The hostel is only about 1 and a half blocks away from the subway. The entire stay was comfortable because we were primarily in the rooms for the night so only really needed a bed and a working A/C. The only concern was the shared bathrooms. Thankfully, there are 5-6 bathrooms per floor so when one or two were dirty, there was the option to use one of the others and they were clean. So, apart from the slight issue of having to find a clean bathroom, the stay was excellent and I will stay here again. I would highly recommend the hostel for it's location and inexpensive accommodations.

“Manhattan Bargain”

This was exactly what we were looking for: a clean, safe room to refuel after busy days of seeing the city. Shared bathrooms were almost always clean, room air-conditioner was very efficient, staff was accomodating. Access to subway/fruit stand/drug store/deli all very convenient. Couples as well as individuals can do well here.

“great for the price”

I knew we wouldn't spend much time in our hotel room, so this was a good deal for the price.

“Great stay for the Money!”

Great CHEAP place to stay. Bathrooms were cleaner than my own bathroom. Room small but only used it for sleeping. Common area great to relax in. Would recommend to anyone!!!!!

“Looking for a cheap/clean/safe place to sleep. Do it!”

Candy Hostel was a huge money saver and reason why mine and my friends trip to New York was so memorable. We paid for a dormitory 4-6 bunk room. But to our pleasant surprise we were given our own room. The room was small, had a bunk bed, one outlet and a fan in the window. This was fine. The room was clean, the bathroom down the hall was clean. It was a good firs hostel experience. The only complaint I had was that the A/C did not work, we could only have the unit on fan mode. This meant 85 degree nights. We only needed a place to sleep and after walking throughout the city all day we were exhausted and didn't really notice the heat in the room. Looking for a cheap, clean place to sleep in Manhattan, go with this hostel. Its in a good/easy to find area right by central park. Besides the stuffy and hot room at night, no complaints.

“Best Hostel I've stayed in!”

Excelent place, it's not a Hilton, obviously, you get what you pay for! i stayed in a single room, it was really small (barely fitted the bed, my suitcases and a radiator with i did not use 'cause was not cold enough) but great, bathroom always clean, nice place overall... definetly would stay there if i go back to NYC!! really close to subway station, the people in the recepcion were very nice to... if you need wifi, you have it (you have to pay, but still), and there are 4 computers with internet access downstairs that you can use for about 20min/buck... would not hurt to have some sort of free wi-fi though :)

“It's inexpensive and quite good.”

I found it on Expedia and made reservation with very good price. So I thought I won't have good service. But it was too much concern. Of course you can't expect good room and service like expensive hotel. But it is hostel. I think it's good deal.

“Convenient and Affordable Hotel in NewYork”

It is clean and comfortable. The only drawback is that they mix the genders together in one dorm, which makes it inconvenient...... Moreover, the blanket is too thin..... but it is a convenient place to stay if transfer from NewYork to other places. It is very close to the subway.

“Would definately stay again : )”

We stayed there for I think 5 nights. Had paid for a shared room and was given a private room so I was very happy with that. Have to admit when we first got there it did stink of smoke. But a couple days later I think when certain people had left it wasn't that bad. Everything seemed to be constantly being painted. It's definately been a well used building and you can tell. But they seem to look after everything. The shared bathroom was always clean and I did not have to wait very often to use it. Loved the location. Close to subway and shops and a brilliant cafe deli place which we went to heaps. Wish I remembered the name. It definately is nothing spectacular but for the money you spend you can't really complain.
