Beautiful, authentically Italian property. Michelin star restaurant at the hotel. Very quiet and lovely staff. Perfect get away for a couple or family looking to relax by the pool and enjoy the countryside. Some room for improvement: - beds and mattresses. Not that comfy. I could feel my husband’s every toss and turn. - no food after 9pm and you cannot walk anywhere

Remarkable refreshing place
Superb time, first time in Chianti and enjoyed it thoroughly. The hotel is incredibly relaxing and a respite, located in a beautiful area that I could stay in for weeks. Incredible views, space to run and cycle nearby.

The resort was excellent and so beautiful. Staff went out of their way to help us including reserving some select wine tasting and booking a lunch reservation for us. I was very impressed and would highly recommend it.

We were expecting something great but it was very mediocre. Beds were extremely uncomfortable, on certain days the only restaurant in the hotel is closed so we’re expected to find someplace outside the hotel to eat, hotel isn’t super close to anything so definitely needed a car.

Beautiful rustic Tuscan resort!
Great resort hotel in the heart of Tuscany. This hotel was fantastic. Close to wineries and a lot of other fantastic places in the regions. Amazing staff with great attention to detail. The outdoor pool was amazing and had fantastic views of the hillsides, all of which are pure Tuscany. I can not recommend this place more if you are looking for a nice place to stay and relax in the Tuscany region of Italy.

The setting of the hotel is stunning and the property itself is beautiful. Staff were very friendly. This makes up somewhat for the "tired" condition of the rooms (our bathroom had an outdated jacuzzi tub and the knob on the heating towel rack was broken so we couldn't warm up the towels. There were also some issues with service. We ordered room service coffee and mint tea and we received every conceivable tea but no mint. Dinner service was also a little off in the supposed Michelin restaurant. We wanted pasta just with tomato sauce for a vegan in our party, but it arrived with the fish sauce. We also ordered mint tea in the restaurant after dinner but were served Roibos. It's little things like this that may not seem like a big deal, but that make the difference between an average hotel and an excellent one. Also, the coffee at breakfast was not very good, especially for an Italian establishment.

The hotel staff is rude and unhelpful. The rooms are in serious need of renovation and the bed was as a hard as a rock. This was such a disappointing experience for a honeymoon couple. We had a problem exchanging our American money and they were not helpful until someone from home called to complain about their rudeness and lack of concern. Even after complaining the staff on that day we left refused to help me change my train tickets. He suggested I call and when I said I could not from my phone from the states because it didn’t work he didn’t offer to call for me or ask if I would like to use the hotel phone. We feel we were treated badly for being young and American. Do not stay here! I promise you will be disappointed!

Not to be missed in Tuscany!
The hotel is, simply put, phenomenal! It is quaint and steeped in antiquity that oozes Tuscan charm! We had a deluxe double that had a sitting room and a separate bedroom that were both exceptionally comfortable! The hotel amenities were superb with views extending out to the Tuscan countryside and several vineyards well within site. We ate at Il pievano and the meal was without a doubt the best meal I've had in my life. The attention to detail and the service was truly second to none. Dont debate, just book the room!

The view was amazing of the Tuscan/Chianti valley. The town is walkable and quaint with some shopping and restaurants. The property is incredible- truly a medieval castle vibe and the pools are great. Very kid friendly.

We loved the location, room was great, clean and we had a private balcony with a beautiful view. Spa was included and was perfect before dinner. All was perfect...only negative point was service at the restaurant in the lower level. Manager was rude when we asked for a specific wine he gave us the wine list and told us if it was there they would have it but wasn’t helpful. Another employee took over and was great but having such a great list of wines we would have appréciated having recommendations based on our tastes as soon as we asked but other than that our overall experience was great! There is an exterior and interior pool so great to relax...we would go back!

Old castle converted to modern hotel. Excellent service. Nice Michelin star restaurant Il Pievano. Great view from outside seating space at breakfast. Did not care for cave-like second restaurant Osteria. Would prefer to have coffee/tea makers in room. Need better WiFi. Central location close to many fine vineyards.

Beautiful location, stunning views, wonderful service. For a luxury resort the beds were terribly uncomfortable. Suggesting terrace for high end rooms was also misleading and not worth the price. The ‘casual’ restaurant is not casual at all and best to head into the centre for casual dining and prices.

We had a lovely stay here. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a good-sized shower. We arrived late at night and they greeted us outside and took us on a tour right away. Very nice. The location was private and secluded, yet not too far from the local sights. Gaiole in Chianti is a cute little village right there with a few restaurants and gelato. We ate at the casual hotel restaurant both nights and it was fabulous. Used the pool one morning which was a treat. Beautiful grounds. Would definitely stay here again!

Traditional Tuscan experience
If you’re looking for a traditional Tuscan castle stay, this is the place for you. Rooms are rustic and comfortable, with nice toiletries. I stayed in the suite and the outdoor terrace had amazing hill views. The breakfast in the morning has similarly beautiful views and the buffet is generous. The pool is cold, but refreshing. 10 minute walk to restaurants. Overall a wonderful stay.
