“Perfect Place For A Budget Trip To The Greatest City In The World”

A small hostel located in a very nice area, round about 5 blocks from Central Park which was a great bonus, quiet area aswell which was good. There was only me and my mate staying here and we got a room on the ground floor just round the corner from reception, it literally was the basic's and it does surprise you for an intial second how small the room is but it was perfect for us. It had a bunk bed, a TV and that was everything we needed to keep us happy. There were two shared bathrooms close to us and both were always, if not nearly always available and both were always clean. The hostel staff were friendly and helpful when we asked about anything. The only thing we found odd was our room wasn't cleaned once during our 5 day stay but it wasn't really much of a problem. To sum up? a perfect budget hotel ideally located, if I ever come here again (on the same budget ;-)) this will definately be at the top of my list.

“its in the CITY and its CHEAP”

i would recommend this place to young people. its a place to sleep and thats really all you need in a town like ney york. the hostel also offers good amminites for rainy days like ping pong, some foosball, games, and a tv with couches. i was suprised to see the doors had locks and the rooms had a/c. i would definintly stay there again.

“Very clean & comfortable”

This hostel is clean and the bed (we had a bunk bed) was very comfortable. The only minor discomfort was that the room had no mirror so all make-up, hair stuff meant occupying the bathroom in the hall. I will stay there again, no doubt. By the way, my husband, child & I occupied one bunk room with our child on the floor (we brought a mat & sleeping bag) and the hotel was fine with that.

“great little hostel”

If you're expecting the Ritz or something remotely close to it, you'll be disappointed, but if you're expecting a nice, cheap place to rest your tush in between exploring NYC, this is it.

“Highly-recommended Hostel”

I stayed at the hostel for four days. The hostel is just a block away from the subway. I was able to put my luggage in storage before and after my stay. I had my own room and the bathroom down the hall was clean, it included a toilet paper dispenser so I didn't have to bring my own. The wifi, which was free, in my room worked just fine. I didn't get to check out the rec center but I bet it was nice. The interior of the hostel very colorful and the doors had a silver circular shapes. On the same floor, was a sink and stove but I didn't use that either. I would highly recommend the hostel and I will stay there again. You do not expect a large room with wide open spaces, it is still new york and besides you are there to go see the city not the inside of your hostel room.

“New York's best hostel”

This hostel was a great bargan. The rooms and main areas were very clean. While the bathrooms were often busy, they were well maintained. There was a fan in each room which helped keep the room from becoming too hot even though we visited in August. The neighborhood was extremely safe and only 2 blocks from the subway. If you are looking for a cheap way to stay in the city I would definately recommend this hostel.

“For a hostel, it's almost perfect”

Spent four nights at the Continental and we were thoroughly pleased with it. We payed very little for a clean room with double bed, not one but two fans and a working television. On arrival the staff were pleasant and friendly, and throughout our stay they answered any enquiries that we had. The room was sparse but had plenty of storage space. The bathrooms were shared but numerous, and I never had a problem in finding a free shower or toilet. There is a commonroom in the main hostel building, and although we didn't really participate, there seemed to be quite a party atmosphere in there - great if that's the sort of thing you like. There's a TV, games equipment, plenty of internet computers ($2 - 20mins), and ice machine, in there too. The hostel is around the corner from the subway (96 Street on the Bronx-Manhattan 1/2/3) which takes you to anywhere in New York affordably. It's a short walk from Central Park. It's a block from Broadway. Take the negative reports below with a BIG pinch of salt: the clue's in the name, this is a HOSTEL, not a hotel. Don't expect luxury, but this hostel provides much more than many others, and it's more than adequate for a budget visit to NY. The only caution, for seasoned hostelers, is the lack of cooking implements in the kitchens. That could be improved upon. Other than that - it's perfect.

“Excellant Hostel”

I stayed in a room with 4 people from 4 different countries. Toured New York with a chap from England. Hostel Staff extremely friendly, very helpful. Only thing I noticed, was the tile in bathroom was broken, but was really not an issue. I would definately recommend this Hostel to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive place to stay to tour New York.
