Fantastic Bakersfield Location
The reason this property is getting an average overall rating was because of how inept the front desk was and how badly they botched my check in. There were two problems with check in: 1) the front desk person asked me to tap my card for the deposit and when I asked why it was so much, after I had tapped, he informed me that this included the room rate as well. I had already prepaid the room and told him this. He told me that the computer didn't indicate this. Fortunately, I had brought a copy of the receipt for the payment, and he reluctantly conceded that I had indeed paid for the room. In brief, they had to figure out how to deal with the double charge, which they eventually did. Problem 2: the room number the same front desk person wrote on the key card holder wasn't the same as the room number on the contract sheet. I went with the key card holder number, and that didn't work. So I tried what I remembered from the contract sheet and that did work. So I had to drop back to the front desk to make sure the computer was in alignment with the real room so that they didn't check anyone else into my room. Anyhow, check in was a mess. Other than that, we have stayed at this property previously and I can almost guarantee you that they have had a remodel since then. The rooms are really nice and feel new, and they are spacious and well appointed. If you are visiting Buck's place, it is almost right across the strong. We would stay again.

We stayed at hotel to attend Christmas Holiday Celebration with family. So we didn't really have an opportunity to tour the neighborhood. We had venues to get to. Parking at the hotel was limited in front area and gate was locked causing us to make a u turn to exit. Otherwise hotel was very lovely. Staff was pleasant. Breakfast was in a clean area and ok.

This is always one of my favorite hotels to stay at. Extremely clean and always has a very welcoming staff and look to it from the second I walk into the door.

The front desk staff was mostly friendly, but not necessarily warm and welcoming. However, I was really impressed with the black out curtain that made the room super dark. As a result, I could sleep longer in the morning when the morning sun would have normally been beating into the room. The room, having one king sized bed, was roomy and clean with a high ceiling, the bed comfortable the bathroom clean and just the right amount of spacious. The water in the bath tub took a while to get warm, however. My travel mate never had warm water (I think because she didn't wait long enough). Seems like, with the water issues California is having, having to run and run water to wait before it warms up would be addressed. I'd definitely stay here again.

Terrible experience!
I made our reservation on Hotels.com and pre-paid for 3 people in my party. We arrived very late and had problems checking in. The Receptionist was non-communicative and took 30 min to check up in! Then she insisted on charging us $50 more for my son claiming the room was double occupancy. I showed her my reservation for 3 but she charged us anyways. It was after midnight, so I just wanted to go to bed. Checking in the room, right outside our window was two large dumpsters and piles of trash. Terrible experience. No value for the money at all. The breakfast was jock. They had a sign that said, we're short of bacon, and other products! Not recommended at all.

This was a very nice room with nice furniture and a large TV. However, the sink faucet was too small/short and did not reach over the sink, creating a wet mess on the sink. The water pressure was very good, until you turned on the shower head, then it was just a drizzle. The wallpaper above the shower was beginning to come loose and needs to be re-glued before mold gets in. Everything else was very nice and comfortable!

The hotel was very well cared for with modern bathrooms, a comfortable bed and very nice room. Breakfast was included and the lady making sure everything was clean and well supplied was fabulous, giving personal service with a smile. I will definitely stay there again.
