Check in was 3 pm and I sat in an air conditioned office until 3:30. I told the office I was disabled and our room was literally the highest up a hill and second to last room furthest away. I was told we go that building because of when we booked (a month ago). Our anniversary dinner is down at the beach. I will have to take a taxi a couple thousand feet down and back. Most people can walk straight up a steep hill and down. Also beware. There are 3 places called Sapphire here. This is the one with green/blue roofs up on a hill. Rude

There are 3 properties located at Sapphire Beach. Sapphire Bay West, Sapphire Beach Resort, with beachfront and yacht harbor suites, and Sapphire Village Resort, a hilltop property with 2 pools, a restaurant and outstanding views. You booked your reservation at Sapphire Village Resort. The front desk did explain that to you when you said that your room was supposed to be on the beach. Unfortunately there was no availability to change properties, so the reservation you booked was honored.In our defense, your reservation did not note a disability or any special requests, and our welcome email, which was automatically sent to you at the time you booked, lists our front desk location, starting check-in time, and phone number so that we can respond directly to questions and concerns from our guests before they arrive. We are so sorry for any misunderstanding.

There were 3 pools to choose from and the dining options were convenient and diverse. The views were excellent from our apartment which overlooked the marina. The staff of the complex were friendly and accommodating.

We loved our stay at Sapphire Village. We enjoyed the close walk to the beautiful beach. Everyone on the property was so kind and wonderful to us. We went to Sudi’s and had a great time. Also Red Hook and the St John Ferry are very close and convenient. Would recommend, we would love to visit/stay here again.

This condo is outdated and needs attention. Tv only 4 channels brochure says cable. 1 radio don’t work broken antenna. 2 a/c units on patio make it impossible to set outside because of the heat the a/c produces. Ceiling fan in living room won’t work, blinds to patio have missing slats and won’t open and closes with the pull strings. You must manually turn each blind yourself. Clock has dead batteries.Checkin a night mare . The guard at gates kept sending us back and forth to check in. I knew we had to check in at the beach resort and get keys. Guard sent us to the condo side. The guard at condo side get angry that people are not given directions accurately. Called office number and guard was telling her to stop booking and not giving directions, she hung up on him. Called back and got another person this time. Told us to come back we’re we first went the first time. Didn’t give us a parking pass at check in. Had to go back again and ask for one after getting a note on our rental. This condo is not worth the price they charge. The decorations and furniture is 20 years old . Room was cleaned every other day. I feel the owners of this condo needs to upgrade or be forced to remove this rental. No extras like many condos no beach chars nothing extra at all. Sudies restaurant was nice , the pizza place at beach was very good. Cruise ships drop off beware, they pack the beach and take over . Get to beach early on cruise ship days. They come in groves and push the guest out and pack

Thank you for your review. First, let us confirm we were horrified at the confusion you experienced at arrival. The guards are employed by the HOAs for Sapphire Beach and Sapphire Village. As stated in the welcome email automatically sent by Expedia, the front desk is located at Sapphire Beach and is open 10am-6pm daily. It also states to call the front desk for instructions if arriving after hours, and both a local and toll free number are provided. We do this to make after-hours arrivals as smooth as possible. We also appreciate the feedback on the unit. This feedback allows us to show reviews to the owners to let them see how their units present to those who stay in them. Sapphire Village does allow us to offer an option to Sapphire Beach while still being close by, but they do not provide beach chairs - only those for use around the two pools. All beaches in the Virgin Islands are public, so the flow of tourists who visit Sapphire Beach are not within anyone’s control. Again, thank you for your review..

Pros: The studio was in good shape, housekeepers did a great job, location was fantastic, and it was nice have Sudi's bar/restaurant right there. Cons: Check-in was confusing and very atypical, even though it was explained in the booking. Wifi did not function in the unit and staff could not address the issue since units are owned by individuals and managed by a group. I often had to keep doors and windows closed due to heavy weed smell from other occupants (i hate the smell and was there wity my young daughter). Overall, we had a fine time, but i wouldn't return or recommended.

Thank you for the positive assessment of the property and our staff. The check-in situation is the best we can do and we have explained that our front desk office is located at Sapphire Beach for both Sapphire Village and Sapphire Beach properties. We are sorry about the wifi issue. The front desk was notified about it near the end of the day on FRI, and it is our understanding that it was resolved by updating the password on SAT. We were not notified if it ceased to work again, and there have been no complaints from guests who have stayed in the unit since. The Sapphire Village HOA allows smoking on the balconies, and smoking weed is legal in the USVI, so that is out of our control.

Hotel was clean, but be aware of mosquitoes inside. The cable didn't work or no signal on 1, and the other couldn't watch local television, just the Roku hooked up to TV with no informative content. Also, we stayed in the Marine section, but was never told there was an actual beach onsite with food and entertainment, we just happened to found it by accident on our last night. That was disappointing. Although no fault of the hotel, the power went out on our last night, but I thought the hotel would've had generators, but they didn't. Overall, it was a good place to stay and Ill stay there again...hopefully with better communications.

You had been upgraded to a Sapphire Beach Resort yacht harbor suite from a Sapphire Village Resort suite (located in the smaller resort high on the hill) due to a maintenance issue. The front desk on duty did not know you made your original reservation at Sapphire Village Resort and assumed you understood the yacht harbor suites are part of Sapphire Beach Resort. There is limited programming on the basic TV available. The ROKU box is meant to enable guests to log into their accounts to watch their preferred programs. Again, we apologize for your inconvenience and hope you will stay with us again.

We are sorry you were disappointed. It is a hillside resort with tremendous views and 2 swimming pools, but it is up a long, steep hill. When guests call us for information, depending on what they want to do on St. Thomas or in the Smith Bay/Red Hook area, we do recommend a rental car/independent transportation.

Beautiful views of the bay from apartment perched on steep hillside and near a great beach, but not convenient without a vehicle. There was no coffee in the apartment, requiring a challenging walk on a steep hillside to get to a coffee shop near the beach. Restaurants and bars at the resort all closed after 6 PM, leaving no where convenient to eat or drink. There is no convenience store at or near the resort, necessitating a costly taxi ride into Red Hook to obtain basic provisions.

The units are meant to offer guests the ability to treat the units as a home stay with housekeeping services every other day while enjoying the views and facilities at the property, and proximity to the nearby beaches, Coral World, Red Hook and other famous sites, while exploring the beautiful island of St. Thomas.

The beach was great. The communication with the office was terrible. The TV stopped working the third day, was never fixed. No beach chairs were provided. No safe was provided. The room was very drab and dreary feeling. The whole condo needs remodeled, updated and decorated.

We are sorry you were disappointed. We do not offer or advertise safes or beach chairs at Sapphire Village. We do offer beach towels and there are chairs for guests to use around the 2 swimming pools. You may be confused with Sapphire Beach Resort, which does have in-room safes and complimentary beach chairs for guests staying at that property. Sapphire Beach also has a dive shop that rents beach chairs to visiting guests. Each unit is privately owned and furnished, and can only be rented if it meets specific criteria. Because each owner has a different set up for their electronics as well, there are instructions in each unit for that particular set up. We checked the TV, as we do after each rental, and it is working. The front desk is open 9-9 daily and does serve both Sapphire Beach Resort and Sapphire Village. If you can recall the time and date when you feel the communications with the front desk were less than satisfactory, please share your experience with us so we can improve our service. Thank you.

Liked that it was a nice location. Close to the pool and restaurant. The condo was really dated, dirty and damp furniture. Wi-Fi and tv wouldn’t connect. No one answered our call at the office. Electrical output was unsafe. Light didn’t work on the balcony. Condo smelled damp and musty. Overall condition was extremely poor. Refrigerator shelves were broken, toaster didn’t work.

Thank you for your assessment of the unit and bringing this information to our attention. The units are furnished by the owners and as long as they meet specific criteria, we are under contract to rent them. We have inspected the unit and found that the wifi and the cable are working, and the laminated instructions on how to use the cable tv are in the unit. The room was inspected prior to arrival and the housekeeping manager did not find broken shelves in the refrigerator, though there was a broken one found in the refrigerator door when the unit was cleaned and inspected post departure. The toaster was scheduled for replacement due to its appearance, but it did work. Our front desk is at Building A Unit 201 at Sapphire Beach, the phone number is listed in the welcome packet, and it is open from 9am to 9pm daily. Additionally, there is an after hours emergency number listed as well. We do not leave our guests without a way to reach us. Had we known the guests were unhappy with their accommodations, we would have welcomed the opportunity to quickly correct any issue they had. We are truly sorry that the guests did not enjoy their stay, however this could have been remedied at the time by contacting the front desk, by phone or in person, or by calling the emergency number. If the front desk did not answer between 9am & 9pm, it was due to attending to a guest, and a message could have been left. Regards,

I liked the quietness, the location to the beach, how the overall general grounds were kept. My individual unit lacked cable tv access and local TV channels. Accommodations in the unit were very basic and lacked charm and appeal in appearance. Would prefer to try another unit next time with a view and balcony.

Sapphire Villiage Resort is a great property. We had an excellent time once we found all of the amenities. Upon arrival the amenities were not communicated. There may have been a language or accent barrier that caused this issue. After a long day traveling on several flights and problems with pre-paid transportation from airport, I admit that I was a little tired and upset. After resting, we took a taxi off-site for dinner as the one restaurant mentioned on property was closed. I found out about amenities the following morning while walking around the property inquiring where I could find a cup of coffee.

I appreciate the upgrade that was nice our first room no internet no tv so the upgraded us to a better room more room but no wifi password which I figured out the next day room very dusty like it was not dusted in months very nice grounds nice clean beach private almost crystal clear water all in all a good trip but rooms and houses need to be updated

We are sorry you were disappointed. Sapphire Beach Resort and Sapphire Village are different properties located in the are of Sapphire Beach, and they can become confused. The best indicator of which property is the cost, and the prices for all room types are available online.

The view was beautiful. The room was nice. It was outdated but was spacious. I would definitely stat again . The check in was a little confusing because they lost power but we found it in the end and the guy was really nice..
