Hi Anthony, many thanks for your review, we're glad you enjoyed your stay! We do feed the birds, they get every crust from the loaves we use as well as seed in the winter when they need it more. As for fish, I've given up I'm afraid. Over 200 fish have been in the pond and every single one has been eaten by herons, I'm now content with my newts and frogs! Thanks again!
Amazing hotel with lovely garden, the nicest garden I've ever seen in a hotel. The hosts make you feel very welcome. Would definitely stay here again. The breakfast is a real bargain.
Breakfast Was only between 8.30am and 9.30am which made service cramped and the staff rushed whilst trying to keep up with Service.
Generally pleasant Stay , although the 4 poster bed we stayed in was very small
Anthony and Vivian were very friendly, they made our stay very enjoyable. We would recommend this hotel as it only about 10 min walk from the centre and also has a good bus route . Breakfast very good value for money . Would go back
Gorgeous room - lots of extra touches, very comfortable, warm and cosy. Bathroom and room both extremely clean and always well made by the housekeeping. Breakfast was delicious and served by friendly staff. Anthony was welcoming and knowledgable when checking in. Very good location in Windermere. Would stay again!
The willowsmere is like stepping back in time to a more genteel era. The decor and furnishings are exquisite, and the service is to match. Well done.

Lake District stay
Met by the owner who was friendly and helpful. The room was very nice with a superb bathroom with nice little extras. At breakfast the staff were excellent and the food very good. All in all could not fault our stay.
Good location 10 min walk to Windermere or catch a bus outside to Bowness-on-Windermere where there a few more shops and bars to eat in. Hotel lovely setting, rooms oldy worldy with very comfy bed. Nice touch with coffee tea water and squash replenished daily. The breakfast was very good set you up for the day full English and nothing too much trouble have as many cups of tea coffees and toast as you like. Didn’t see the owners much they just let you do your own thing but we’re contactable if needed.
Loved everything about the hotel except for some reason the top floor was extremely HOT. Bringing this to attention did not resolve. Luckily the window opened wide!
We stayed for just one night as a stop off to somewhere else and the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The breakfast was excellent and there has been thought put into the décor throughout so its a lovely environment. The landscaped garden is delightful and there's a very well-stocked fridge in the lounge so a nice glass of vino in the evening sun is definitely a must. My only gripe is ... given the rooms are so spacious, perhaps invest in some kingsize beds.
Just out of town the Willowsmere provides a very comfortable stay, quiet, easy parking, fabulous staff along with a good breakfast in a clean and well appointed hotel. We will certainly stay again.
You can walk from the station in 10 minutes and in the evening it's 10 minutes walk to some great places to eat in Windermere.
We particularly appreciated the honesty bar for a glass of wine which we then took into the lovely garden. A great place to sit and relax after a busy day and before going out for supper.
The location in Windermere suited us as we preferred to be away from the crowds at Bowness. You can walk down hill to Bowness in half an hour and buses and taxis can run you back up again. Some taxis wait at the bottom near the Lake cruise peers.
The hotel is comfortable and the host Anthony is very helpful.
Staff very pleasant and extremely helpful.
Advised on great restaurants.Good location for traveling around the Lake district.
Well. cooked and. presented breakfasts.
Would recommend to others.
The Willowsmere is a comfortable and well appointed B&B. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is awesome. It's only about a 5-10 minute walk from Windermere station / bus interchange. The gardens and public areas are nice.
If I had a criticism it would be that they won't let you leave any luggage there after you check out. That's fine if you have a car (eg stick it in the boot) but isn't ideal if you are travelling by public transport and were hoping to spend your check-out day in the area. There is a place down in Bowness (Pegasus cars) that will store left luggage but it's about a 25 minute walk away.
It is a retreat in the heart of the lakes and gave me a refreshing break in every way. The garden was an oasis, and the ethos warm, friendly and helpful.
