“A great value”

Anyone looking for a place to stay near to the Great Lakes Naval Base and at a reasonable rate will find this motel meets their needs. Everything was neat and clean; the service was efficient. I appreciated the computer in the lobby but they have wireless, too. Brochures of places to go and things to do were available and two with maps were given to me at check-in. They could use an upgrade on the quality of their TV transmission though.

“A great place to stay for families.”

I, was very pleasantly suprised how nice and convenient the Red Carpet Inn was after reading alot of negative reviews. Its the perfect location to saty at for families attending the Navy Boot Camp Graduation. The staff was professional and very helpful. The room was very clean and plenty of CLEAN towels 2 double beds. The price was also excellent for families who are struggling in today's economy because it allowed us to be there for our loved ones and . The close proximity to the Naval Base that it took the stress out of the whole experience. After the ceremony we brought my daughter back to our room so she could relax and she never stopped thanking us for finding such a nice room so close to the base. The Red Carpet Inn, even offered gate passes and a shuttle service to the Graduation. They offered a continental breakfast and free toiletries in the room are really good, I especially liked the Make-up remover towelette. All in all, Thank you Red Carpet Inn

“Great for Your Money!”

We stayed at this hotel because of my fiance's Naval graduation. The stay was good for the price. Aside from the small spider in the bathtub (which I drowned), everything was very nice. It is very close to the base and the shuttle got us to the graduation in a very timely manner and back. They were very helpful with whatever we needed. The guy at the front desk is kinda "high strung" but still very helpful. I would stay there again. I will be going back to visit him in about 3 or 4 wks and I'll probably stay there again.

“Nice to be close to our destination”

Very convenient to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center which is why we were there. Had a rental car so didn't use the hotel shuttle service to the base which they did have available. Staff was helpful with any issues, questions, or requests that we had.

“Conveniently located to the Navy Base - Graduation.”

This hotel was located very close to the Navy Base. We were very happy with how close we were to picking up and dropping off our Navy graduate. The hotel was very basic, nothing to write home about. I suggest you take your own hair dryer. The one there is very very old. It's perfect for very short hair. We never had the continental breakfast. We went to McDonald's everyday for coffee. McDonald's is very close walking distance.

“good value for the price”

We stayed at the Red Carpet for our son's graduation from Navy Boot Camp. We were 8 blocks from the base. Flanigan's (restaurant next door) was an excellent value. For the price, the Red Carpet was great. My only complaint was the continental breakfast - they had individual packages of danishes. Bagels would have been a better choice.

“Cheap but Close to Navy graduation”

I picked this particular motel b/c it was close to my son's Navy Graduation. The rooms are a nice size. Beds are a little worn, but for the price it was doable. The toilet handle was broke when i got there, and they did fix it, but very cheap handle. The other one could have easily broke as well. They offered a "free" shuttle service to the Navy graduation, and was very pleased with that. The man who checked me in, was very hard to understand. Some foreign language and talked so fast I didn't catch hardly nothing he said to me. I began to think that is just how people talk in the big city of Chicago. But after talking to other people there, they also agreed with me. For the price of the stay, i was pleased with what i got, and would stay there again.

“Roomy, comfortable”

Though the carpet could have stood replacing in the room we were in there was plenty of room, with small dinette and 2 chairs, mini-fridge, plenty of clean towels. We heard a train whistle blow a couple of times during the night from a track maybe a 1/4 mile away or so. The air conditioning cycled off and on, off and on with such force as to cover a much larger room. Another sleep disruption for a light sleeper. Also, do not let anyone tell you this is a non-smoking facility. And even though we were not smoking enough seemed to come in from somewhere. Naturally, we arrived too late to get our reserved non-smoking room. Our travel mates in another room could not find a TV remote when they were ready to watch some TV. Management likely would have gotten them one if they had been notified. Our mates just never bothered to, as far as I know. Overall the room was clean and beds were made during the day. The pool and hot tub: I've never seen a hot tub that looked like a bubble bath, but I'm not certain that that was the actual situation. I can't get in hot tubs anyway and husband declined. Not sure why. People were in the tub and made repeated comments about the 3-4 inch foam. No, I didn't think to take pix. I stuck a toe in the pool out of curiosity. Wasn't quite as cold, but too cold, and the pool filter appeared to be off. So maybe the pool wasn't open? Also, sorry, none of us will recommend Flanagan's next door.
