St. John
The smallest of the Virgin Islands, St. John covers only 28 square miles. Virgin Islands National Park takes up two-thirds of it, and includes the popular Trunk Bay, Annaberg Sugar Plantation, and Watermelon Cay. Streets wind through colorful buildings in Cruz Bay, the biggest town and center of the island’s tourism. Many locals live in the more laid-back Coral Bay area, on the island’s east side.

Cruise ships dock near Charlotte Amalie, the U.S. Virgin Islands’ capital and largest city. Popular city attractions include Blackbeard’s Castle, Main Street, and the 99 Steps. Magens Bay, considered one of the most beautiful beaches, is on the north end of St. Thomas, as is Mahogany Run Golf Course. On the east end, Coral World and the Mangrove Lagoon provide glimpses into the rich marine life.
