Cocoa
A city in east-central Florida on the Atlantic Coast, Cocoa is home to 17,000 people. Cocoa Village, a historic part of town, is home to antique shops, art galleries, boutiques, specialty stores, restaurants, and places to hear live music.

Cocoa Beach
On Florida’s eastern “Space Coast,” Cocoa Beach emerged as a community in the 1960s because of the U.S. space program at NASA’s Cape Canaveral headquarters. Surfing is a popular activity here. Patrick Air Force Base is also nearby.

Melbourne
A city with more than 500,000 people, Melbourne is named after the Australian city of the same name. On Florida’s “Space Coast,” Melbourne has three buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. It also has its own symphony, performing arts center, and an art museum.

Merritt Island
On the northern side of Merritt Island is NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

Titusville
The U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame and the U.S. Space Walk of Fame Museum are in Titusville.
