Maharepa
Maharepa is where most of the island’s banks are located, along with the post office. You will also find artisan shops selling Tahitian black pearls. Maharepa houses several gourmet restaurants that typically serve seafood, French, or Tahitian cuisine. Moorea Distillery and Fruit Juice Factory, to the west, is a half-day excursion.

Papetoai
Papetoai sits on a curving stretch of white sand, azure water, and coral reef. Moorea’s lush mountains make for a stunning backdrop, with Mount Rotui separating Papetoai’s Oponohu Bay from Cook Bay. The small village is comprised of shops and restaurants, while most of the lodging is in bungalows suspended over the lagoon.

Pihaena
This north-facing village is 3.5 km (2.2 miles) east of Papetoai and 4.1 km (2.6 miles) west of Marepa. Laze on the white sand beach, take in a Maori show, or snorkel in warm waters acclaimed for both visibility and diverse marine life. Nearby Dolphin Quest offers the opportunity to swim with dolphins.

Temae
Temae is on Moorea’s northeast coast, and Temae Airport (MOZ), 1 km inland, is the main air gateway to Moorea, with flights from Papeete. Just south of here is Kia Ora Lookout, which rewards visitors with views of the Pacific Ocean, including bungalows extending from shore over the coral reef.
