“Good stay”

I've stayed here many times and is always clean and comfortable, though a little dated.

“A thumbs up”

Enjoyed our stay. Room was quiet, roomy and nice. Location was very convenient as we were visiting our son at MTU. We would stay there again.

“Great hotel for families”

We were very happy with our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable, and QUIET. The staff was friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The breakfast was well stocked with waffle maker, cold cereal, oatmeal, bread, bagels, fruit, juice, and coffee. The attendant kept everything full and was very pleasant, which is nice first thing in the morning. We were pleased with the number of channels on the television--we travel quite a bit and usually have to settle for local stations and a few cable options, but there was no problem finding something for everyone with this selection! We loved the reliable wifi connection, too. The pool area was clean but is a little tired and could use some updating. That isn't really a big concern and certainly won't keep us from staying here again, just an observation. My kids sure didn't care about the decor! We walked to a neighborhood restaurant, but it didn't seem that there were many places to shop or eat right by the hotel; of course, it's possible we went the "wrong" way or would have seen something on another street. We like to try local restaurants and were happy with our selection. If you're not so adventurous, I'm sure the staff at the front desk would be happy to help you find a restaurant to your liking. We would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends and will stay here again.

“Last minute arrangements for MTU Winter Carnival”

The location was very close to the campus of MTU which we were visiting for the winter carnival. Our son is in his Senior year and this would most likely be our last winter trip to the area. We didn't make a reservation until very late and didn't believe we could even get into the general area of Houghton, Mi. As it worked out we got right in town and didn't have to drive a long distance to get to everything. The accommodations were pretty good and the overall comfort of the hotel was fine.

“Hancock Hotel”

Staff very pleasant. Older hotel but very clean. Have stayed there several times and would do so again.

“It's ok, but it's not the cleanest one in town”

The hotel was some what out-dated. I mean that there were cracks along the door, where it felt like someone could peek inside.

“MTU Graduation Parent”

Over all OK. Needs more parking in the protected area, but space limitations understood. Nice to have option of door directly outside and interior hallway. Made loading easier and still comfortable to access hotel amenities without getting cold! Would have been nice to have a channel guide for the TV though.

“Cheap, clean, homey touches and breakfast, too! Wouldn't hesitate to go back!”

This hotel isn't the finest or even luxurious. but it is clean and comfortable at a great price. It is located in downtown Hancock which is a very safe area. The people are friendly. The continental breakfast even includes eggs and the place is spotless. It's the best value in the area.

“great place to stay in the UP”

The hotel was well kept. You could tell it was a little older, but kept up. It would have been nice if there was additional soundproofing, as you could hear very clearly people walking up and down the halls, as well as outside traffic. I would stay here again as the facility was clean and tidy.

“Would Avoid This One If Possible”

Loud humming/buzzing noise coming from the pool room mechanical room forced us to change rooms at 2:30 a.m. our first night. We had no water (showers or bathroom) one of the mornings due to a leak in their water system. The hooks in the bathroom door kept falling out. The breakfast room had a few tables and was crowded and uncomfortable just to try to get your food. Hotel just underwent an ownership change so hopefully these items are being addressed. Staff was pleasant and accommodating, but until these items are resolved we will be staying elsewhere when in the Houghton area. We weren't in the room a tremendous amount but, still, expected a bit more.
