“Noisy hallways”

Rooms were great but could hear everyone in the hallway from the room. Single pane windows and floors need soundproofing to fix problem.

“slept like a baby”

The best thing about my stay at this hotel was that the bed was comfortable. Usually the budget priced rooms have horrible beds but this one was different. The view from the hotel was amazing and the staff was very helpful. I would definately stay there again.

“Solid hotel in Houghton, must be the best Travelodge in the Chain”

Even though the hotel is old, it is probably the finest Travelodge in the chain. Almost always anytime I book a Travelodge, I grin and bear it expecting the absolute worst. This hotel, right downtown has a lot going for it. The misses-- the climb up the stairs to the third floor as it doesn't have an elevator. This is no Hilton, by anymeans, but the rooms are clean and nice, it has a nice breakfast and the pool and hottub and sauna are very nice. You can check out the downtown, it has a nice view of the lift bridge and there are some stores a bar and a restaurant for dinner right across the street. For a Travelodge--- 4 stars.

“Good location and good deal for the money, but some improvements would go a long way”

Great location in the historic part of Houghton. Nice person working check-in desk and she allowed me to check in early with no hassle. Also gave me several recommendations for restaurants nearby. Bed was comfy with nice linens. But room had that "air freshener" smell they spray when trying to hide smell of smoke or mustiness. Wireless internet was maddeningly slow at night. Bathroom way extremely tiny. Rooms open into freezing cold breezeway in winter and window is paper thin, so you can hear far too much happening outside. Continental breakfast is a joke...skip it. But overall, pretty good deal for the price.

“Basic, but fine for our needs”

There are few motels in Houghton that will accept dogs, and this is one. It is budget-priced but its location is convenient to all the downtown facilities as well as the MTU campus. The canal is 1 just block downhill - always good for some sightseeing and a view of the Quincy Mine and the old smelter. The hotel could use some sprucing up and it is a bit noisy, but we stayed there when it was under its former name and pretty well knew what to expect. If you want luxury, pay for it and stay at the big names nearby, but if you want basic shelter and enjoy being downtown (Houghton), save your $ and consider this facility.

“not my favorite”

The hotel location was perfect. The musty smell was a bit much. There was actually a dehumidifier running very loudly in our room. Our room was near an exit door, so that was pretty much all we heard all night. If you are just looking for a place to sleep, I would recommend this hotel.

“Not impressed”

Had a king suite, room was large, the view great, BUT the bed was the worst we have ever slept on. The tub was a jacuzzi tub, old and small. Did not use the tub as a tub but as a shower it left very little standing room.
