“Excellent Hotel for the Price”
The Icon is well appointed and had excellent service for a price significantly lower than other competing Houston 5-star hotels. The complimentary on-demand pick-up and drop off service around Houston is extremely convenient. I recommend this hotel and will stay there again.
“HORROR ON MAIN ST”
OLD. SCARY LOOKING. JUST GROSS. DONT DO IT FOLKS...I REPEAT, DONT DO IT!!!
“if you love to be ignored...”
We were given a queen sized room, instead of the king sized room which we were originally requested (and received confirmation of over the phone before arrival). We were told that the hotel was sold out, and so no king size bed for us. Fine, the room was pretty enough, we'll make do. But what is this? The sink doesn't drain? So I call down and ask for maintenance to please fix the sink. We leave for dinner, come back to our room 3 hours later to find that the problem was not fixed or even addressed. No word that anything had even been attempted, nor a word of apology for the inconvenience. So, I guess you are *supposed* to use your fingernails to pry open the drain after you brush your teeth - that's just how things work. Next morning, we had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. After sitting in a mostly empty restaurant for over 20 minutes, and watching the hostess check on other tables service while completely passing us by, I finally chased down a server and asked if someone might please take our order? Lovely place, but absolutely zero customer service and a soul-less experience. They made me feel as though I wasn't even there at all.
“Met my expectations!”
I really loved this hotel. the only down fall is the $28.00 over night valet is the only options to park at the hotel.
“Icon”
Great hotel. I recommend the place.
“A pleasant surprise”
I was expecting to find a hip veneer on an architecturally splendid building. Instead, Hotel ICON was gorgeously appointed through-and-through. Considering the sadly depleted condition of the old downtown, with many vacant storefronts, this place is a real gem.
“Awful”
Construction going on outside room. Maid walked in my room without knocking, lucky I was decent. Air conditioning made loud noises when engaged. When I explained this to representative upon check out she said, " Well come back and hopefully your stay will be better next time.' Fat chance!!!
“Outstanding in asl regards!”
I've traveled a lot and without question this hotel is an excellent value. In every area the ICON surpassed my expectations with regard to the staff, the comfort of the bed and the incredible decor. The hotel is located on Main Street, which puts it right on the tramline: this allows easy transport to the museum and medical districts. Other than that, the area immediately surrounding the hotel is nothing to look at. However, there is a very nice, small Italian restaurant near-by with great food. Parking at the hotel is pricy per night and that is your ONLY option, which is unfortunate. The good part is that your car will be in a 24/7 secure area, staffed by a valet. To sum up, I heartily recommend the ICON Hotel and find it a welcome relief to the typical bland box rooms offered at the same price point. Its a jewel.
“Not Four Star Worthy”
My family & I went to Houston to see an Astros ball game, and I took the chance on the Expedia "Rates so low we can't show you hotel names deal". Hotel ICON fit the bill as far as location to Minutemaid Park, but Hotel ICON was a little less than I would expect a Four Star Hotel to be. Valet parking service was up to par, but our room was a little worn and dusty. If you plan to stay for any longer I would not recommend this Hotel.
“Needs to tell about mandatory valet parking charges”
Turned off by mandatory valet charges and the snooty way the clerk explained that all "upscale" hotels only do valet parking. Not a problem for me-- but it should've been explained before I arrived. The doorhandle to the bathroom came off. The hairdryer didn't work. The pillows -- were they filled with tissues? very uncomfortable -- felt like my head was lying on the mattress. Nice decor. Great location. Very good breakfast tacos across the street. Did I miss the pool?
