Icon Hotel, Houston - fantasticPosted Jul 22, 2014
Cons: Price - we would have loved to stay there during the week as well but the hotel was twice as expensive on weekdays compared to the weekend rate.
Great! Hotel is beautiful, full of character but very modern. Staff was so friendly.

Hotel met all our expectations.Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: The nostalgic feel of the hotel blended wonderfully with modern and updated decor.
Cons: Nothing. We liked everything.
Location: Theater district is nearby offering the arts at the Jones Hall or at the Wortham Theater. The Sundance theater is highly recommended too.
The hotel was in a great location. Walking distance to restaurants and bars and a short distance to our favorite Indie theater. You don't want to miss visiting the Sundance theater while you're in town. The Icon hotel was beautiful. It had the extra touches of a boutique hotel with premium bedding and classic decor. We especially enjoyed the large spa tub. Its romantic and the room was very comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Houston.

Nice hotelPosted Jun 9, 2014
Very nice hotel. King corner room was very spacious. Very tasty snacks at the bar downstairs. Only criticism A/C failed to keep the room cool and woke up very hot in the morning. We were sweaty by checkout even though we set it to 50. Also, no ice machine on our floor.

Lots of old charm but priceyPosted May 19, 2014
The hotel had lots of charm and a very friendly staff. They surprised us with champagne and fruit and cream for our anniversary. I thought that being a guest we could park for free but we had to pay $30 for an overnight fee. Overall it was a quiet hotel and romantic for us.

Great stay!Posted Mar 25, 2014
This was our first time in Houston and I couldn't have dreamt it better. The hotel was very artsy...beautiful decor, delicious breakfast and...my spouse's favorite...the iconic tea. But the true highlight was the staff. They were so kind and helpful, going out of their way to make sure every little detail was perfect. We stayed a few days and didn't realize that we needed to request the room to be cleaned each morning. After we inquired once, they did revamped our beautiful suite without question. We wouldn't stay anywhere else after the experience we had here. If you want to chance having an average stay in Houston (or worse), stay anywhere EXCEPT for Hotel Icon.

Boutique Hotel in Heart of Downtown HoustonPosted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: Because of it's location and design, the arrival process at the valet area can be a bit chaotic.
Location: There were a lot of great restaurants within walking distance. We also walked from the hotel to Minute Maid, the Toyota Center, and convention center
The lovely hotel was once a stately bank. Details from it's past like the bank vault behind the front desk and the beautiful renderings of different commodities on the mirrors in the elevators enhance the charm. The rooms are a mix of modern comfort details like crown molding, beautiful furnishing and wall paper, and a deep soaking tub. Every staff member we encountered was extremely helpful and friendly. I wish our schedule allowed us more time at the hotel!

Great updates to vintage downtown hotelPosted Jan 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
My 2nd stay at a Hotel in downtown Houston - This hotel was GREAT. I loved this area much more than the Art District, just because there were so many more restaurants & bars to walk to. I personally love this area of downtown because of the older buildings. The hotel had a nice vintage feel to it, but the remodeling of the rooms is great! Contemporary but classic feeling. The bathtub was huge, and definitely take advantage of a bubble bath while there (I took 3 baths during my stay for a spa experience). I didn't try the food, but the hotel SHUTTLE was very convenient and took me to 3 locations within the downtown area for free. Will definitely be back.
