Great downtown stay

Posted Sep 8, 2014
The hotel is conveniently located downtown within walking distance to lots of bars and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The hotel is clean, tastefully decorated, and has plenty of things to do on site. There is a daily happy hour where guests receive 2 complementary drinks before happy hour prices kick in. They also have nighttime milk and cookies. The bar is lively and well stocked and there is a pool table tucked away in an adjoining room. The food served is very good and moderately priced. The free breakfast is good, not great, only because there is a limited selection and it doesn't change daily. The room that we stayed in this time was very dark and tucked away. We were a little upset about this at first but it turned out to be just what we needed. It was super quiet and easy to sleep with the lack of outside lighting. Checkout was a breeze but we were disappointed with the valet service at checkout. They advertised that there is no calling ahead on Sundays, but when we went down there were 6 cars waiting there that all called ahead and we had to wait 15 minutes for our car. Aside from that instance, the valet guys were very nice and even fetched something out of the car for me that I had forgotten. There was also a little cafe just outside of the hotel entrance that has great sandwiches, cheesecake and coffee, in addition to random things that hotel goers typically forget and was open until 1am. Great place to stay!

Bang for your buck

Nice hotel. Stayed for 1 night @$130. It was a fair price. The cintinental breakfast was decent. Free cookies and coffee at night were a very nice touch.

Nice location for stay-cation

Loved everything about the hotel (location, design, atmosphere, staff) with two exceptions: 1. Bathroom walls were not clean; 2. The bed was horrible! It sagged in the middle, felt cheap, and we woke up with backaches. I was also happy to see gluten free items on the in room dining menu. However, I did not participate in the free buffet because I did not see staff around to ask about gluten free items.

Downtown location worked for our itinerary.

Pros: Location, old world ambiance. Close to Minute Maid stadium.
Cons: Busy weekend caused staff to be a little overworked and hard to get attention.
Location: Few blocks from ballpark, walking distance.
Boutique feel to the property was charming. Narrow hallways lent a European feel yet were not overly close. Large room with separate bathroom was comfortable. Very quiet, bed was perfect. Mini bar well stocked. Breakfast was free and tasty, a step above usual fare.

Nice downtown hotel for weekend getaway

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Quiet
Location: Great downtown location close to Metrorail and a variety of restaurants. Not too far from Minute Maid ballpark and Discovery green as well
Enjoyed the hotel. Nice and quiet even with all the LSU and Wisconsin fans in town for the game. Would definitely stay here again

If the hotel is closed to fully booked, do not stay here, they cannot accommodate all those people all at once. Other hotels have way better accommodations around downtown Houston.

Good access from the North and close to attraction

Pros: Proximity to Minute Maid, restaraunts, pool on top floor and barstaff on second floor.
Cons: More up front about charges. Properly trained staff at the counter to deal with issues not blow them off.
Location: Minute Maid, Theatres, Restaraunts, Live Music
Website claimed free cocktails from 530-630, once there it meant two free cocktails only. There was no mention of a 30.00 charge to park your car daily. Also there were additional room charges that were not correct. Associate at the counter could not explain them made no attempt to get help. She told me I would have to get with room service, sent me to the second floor to talk to the "bartenders" who of course were not even scheduled at the time.
