Historic charm, with contemporary featuresPosted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: downtown location, valet & courtesy breakfast staff
Cons: Stayed two nights, room was not cleaned/straightened after first night. Interesting custom that I had not encountered before.
Beautiful hotel that provided value-added amenities such as courtesy shuttle, free breakfast, manager's reception, and cookies & milk in the late evening. Staff very pleasant and room was lovely.

Downtown ExperiencePosted Apr 14, 2015
Location: Discovery Green is less than a mile away. Great restaurants close by like Sambuca and Azuma. There's a lovely Episcopal church across the street.
My new groom and I stayed there on our mini-moon. It was pouring when we pulled up and the valet gentlemen were kind to stay out in the rain and walk me up with an umbrella and later brought our luggage to the room. The hotel décor is beautiful and we loved the room. We got a complimentary upgrade to the suite. (Thank you Magnolia!) The view and the room was gorgeous and comfortable. Loved the comfy robes as well. Room service for our late night snack was prompt. Our experience at the Magnolia was everything you would expect from a four diamond hotel.

Hotel in quiet locationPosted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: Good room in hotel, with all facilities.
Cons: Breakfast finished too early - 9.00 in mornings, and 10.00 on weekend (we were there weekday). Staff started taking away food right on the dot.
Location: Restaurants near by, all seemed to close early. We went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner one night, and it closed at 9.00 PM. Others already closed
Very good room in hotel; quiet location (though not small street), but restaurants closeby all closed early. Nearby shopping centre that shuttle from hotel took us to, was very quiet, with half of shops closed, at least that day anyway. Could walk from there to go to other shops, but then again not busy.

Nice hotel downtown HoustonPosted Mar 30, 2015
Pros: location, etc.
Cons: beds weren't that comfortable for such a high rated hotel. Room wasn't that clean either, was almost like the room hadn't been used in a long time.
Location: everything downtown, was fun...rockets game!
Overall was a good stay here, close location to downtown. Valet was convenient, they have complimentary valet shuttle to take you anywhere in 3 mile radius so that was helpful for going to a Rockets game! Complimentary social hour with free drinks and later some cookies and milk is a nice touch. Rooftop pool has awesome view! Don't let housekeeping bang on your door though and wake you up even with do not disturb signs on door. Turned out a mistake, etc., but was a little disappointing that happened. Overall would stay here again!

Great StayPosted Mar 25, 2015
The hotel is centrally located. We rented a car and the in and out service was free. It is near some great bars and food. A winner.

Attentive and PolitePosted Mar 4, 2015
Location: Dined out and attended the conference
Was there 5 nights for a conference. Shuttle was very convenient but they only have 2 and so at the busy times of day you may wait for 20-30 min. No problem, you just have to know that ahead of time. Otherwise, a pleasant experience

Hotel stay for our son's weddingPosted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: The staff treated us like royalty.
Cons: More seating in the room when it's necessary to order room service.
Location: Many restaurants and shopping centers within walking distance.
We were very impressed with the efficiency and willingness to please of the hotel staff. We were there for our son's wedding and many of our relatives were also staying there. It was very comfortable to be able to visit in the 2nd floor lounge where the staff were always ascertaining that we had everything we needed. The rooms were clean and comfortable, however there wasn't enough seating, when we ordered room service. There was only one chair and a desk. The valet parking staff were always very accommodating and eager to assist with hailing a cab, etc. We highly enjoyed our stay.

Great initial impact, average deliveryPosted Feb 24, 2015
It was fine. Nice lobby area. Gym was fairly nice. Pool was closed by the time we checked in. Milk and cookies bar was closed, too (got in about 11 p.m. though). I never like paying to park but understand why. Breakfast was good; though, they ran out of certain cutlery and it wasn't replenished. The room was nothing special, the toilet was gross looking, and the faucet for bathtub/shower didn't work properly. Ultimately we were looking for a spot to stay for the night and it was fine. IF YOU STAY HERE AND LIKE CRAFT BEERS, CHECK OUT THE FLYING SAUCER PUB AROUND THE CORNER (food not great but crazy beer selection and awesome ambience). Don't know if I'd stay here again unless it was a really good deal or I was staying a bit longer. I missed having a true concierge even with such a short stay.

Good base for exploring HoustonPosted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: Comfortable and friendly. Quiet - especially given downtown location
Cons: We booked two identical rooms but one was significantly better than the other for shape, natural light.and view. The layout of the building, I guess.
Location: Very central - easy walk to restaurants, bars and clubs. Some things to see downtown, but you need a car to get the most out of any sightseeing
Very pleasant - attentive staff and great valet service! Unless you plan just to be downtown, a car is essential as the attractions and things to do are spread over a wide area.
