Better than expected

Posted Sep 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
The Residence Inn located in downtown Houston was better than expected! The hotel staff was always friendly and very helpful with tips about getting around the city. The room was spacious (we had a suite) and the kitchen had plenty of utensils and cookware. Every morning there was a great breakfast (more than just a continental style) with plenty of options. The hotel is next to the train, which makes for easy travel to the museum district! The only downfall is the surrounding neighborhood (but it is what you would expect from any hotel downtown).

Nice hotel, but don't do weekends in Downtown Hous

Posted Aug 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
Overall the hotel was very nice, very friendly staff. The room was immaculate, with modern furniture. Really loved the layout, had a roomy, spacious feel. My biggest compliant is not with the hotel, but with downtown Houston. Absolutely boring, most of the shops and restaurants closed or closing early. There was really nothing to do downtown.

Thank you for sharing about your stay with us! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your spacious suite as well as our friendly team. They will be happy to hear you enjoyed your stay as well! Although many businesses do close early and on the weekends, there are some restaurants and attractions within walking distance of the hotel that remain open on the weekends and in the evening. We hope to see you again when you visit Houston!

Extremely nice front desk clerk.Very nice size room with a great location. Check out is at 12, which was nice. The bathroom area could use a little updating. Overall the stay was great! I would stay again.

Unexpected location

Posted Jul 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel was in the middle of downtown. It was busy and the parking was ridiculous. There is valet parking only and any other parking is difficult and pricey. However, it is in walking distance of metro rail, entertainment, busses and taxis with a max fee for the downtown area. I did call for extra linens and it took them 90 minutes. This could be an isolated case. The staff was other wise polite and accommodating.

I LOVE the Residence inn!

Posted Jul 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
Such a great stay! Very happy and pleased we switched our reservation to this hotel. I will pint out all the wonderful things and some details (I've found the more details about a review, the easier it is to make up my mind on a hotel) about it: *It connects to the Courtyard hotel. Our drop off from the airport was at the Courtyard Valet parking lot. We had to walk around the corner, passed the Starbucks, very short walk. *It was very, very hot and muggy. The smell outside wasn't so pleasent, HOWEVER as we were approaching the main entrance this beautiful smell was coming out of the lobby. *Lobby is clean, fresh, and has a very nice aroma. I felt like I had walked in to a garden with fresh flowers. *We arrived late, 11:30ish PM. DELAYED flights, all day at the airport. The two front desk ladies were very friendly, and checked us in in NO TIME! *Room was very spacious, hence the Residnece Inn. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Some reviews didn't like the fact that the pillows are small, but we didn't mind them at all. They were soft and clean, which is what matters to me. *Hot buffet is very well stocked. I'd say the "typical" breakfast food. Every morning they'd had a different hot breakfast. The daily, eggs, waffle maker, toast, beagles, jellies, oatmeal and toppings (I LOVED the almonds they had!), coffee (they're regular coffee is very strong. We opted to drink the decaf and it was still strong, but tasteful. OJ, cereal, fresh fruit, water, tea, yogurts. *Staff did not tell guests food wasn't allowed to be taken to the rooms (I've been told that in the past at different hotels). Staff are very friendly, Faye is AWESOME! *all staff are all very friendly and polite. *The pool is in good location. However, it could be a bit cleaner. *We used the fitness facilities. If cardio is what you are looking for, then use the RI fitness room. VERY clean and TV monitors. If you are looking for weights and machines, use the Courtyard room. Also very clean, larger and more options. Very nice high tech equipment. We used the Courtyarss room. *We went to Beyoncé and Jay Z concert at Minute Maid park which was walking distance. *We opted out from eating at local restaurants and instead found an AWESOME market/fresh food made daily called Phoenicia (I hope I spelled it right) about 4 blocks away. We were very excited about it! We purchased food and took it back to our room since we had a full refrigerator. Totally recommend it at least to try it once! *Acroas the street, there is a small shopping center. Forever 21 and BCBG (I think) stores. The rest are restaurants. Good ones too. However we didn't try any. They also have a bowling alley, dueling Pianos, and house of blues. Newer location. *room has everything a kitchen would need. Hence, if you'd like to prep your own food, Phoenicia is only a few blocks away! *HBO has awesome movies showing all day/night long ! *Beware that it is DT Houston and there are some bums out. But we didn't have any trouble with it. Just be mindful about your surroundings. Overall, Awesome experience. From location, staff. We mainly went for the concert and rest/sleep and watch HBO. Something we don't get to do at home. Bed and pillows are comfortable enough to be able to enjoy it. We requested a higher floor, 8, and were away from the elevators. Down the hallway. Noise level was acceptable. Didn't bother us.
