Lovely Hotel nestled in the woods

Posted Dec 18, 2014
Pros: the walk in the forest of the hotel premises. the little things like the chocolate on the pillow : )
Cons: parking is so confusing. maybe some more signs in place and a floor painted w arrows to the hotel. free parking please. lattes /espresso bar pls
Location: the location is quiet and that is what i value. i live in the mountains and this secluded hotel is like in an oasis of trees, so it is very relaxing.
Very friendly staff and cleaning ppl. everyone was really professional and attentive to the customer's needs. great hotel. i like antique furniture and cozy places, and this hotel has all of that, well maintained. i've read that some other ppl say it is old, but new is not better. new is plastic junk and poor construction. this hotel is beautiful. the incandescent lighting of the bedroom is so lovely! very cozy. and the room has great blackout curtains, and the bed is ├╝ber comfy. i slept so well. Thank you!

Wonderful Hotel - Holiday Party

Posted Dec 16, 2014
Pros: The overall presentation of the holiday decor was splendid. The service and attention to detail are excellent, and the rooms are well appointed.
Location: We selected the hotel based on past experience, but the location was close to our holiday event, so it made it an excellent choice.
We stayed at the Houstonian during our trip to Houston for a holiday party; the spa, as always, was excellent; we enjoyed The Bar, for a scrumptous afternoon meal and cocktails. The holiday decor was magnificent in splendor and one just oohs and aahs as a result. The staff were all proficient, pleasant and attentive. A must for any time in Houston!

Holiday Getaway

Posted Dec 13, 2014
The hotel public areas are wonderful and breathtaking for the holidays! Unfortunately our first "upgraded room" was wet. I have no other way to describe it, but the carpets, bedding, and furnishings were all so damp that "wet" was how my daughter described the room. We switched rooms and the next room, while dry, was less nice and less clean. Hair and toothpicks littered the bathroom floor. The bathrooms are also tiny. Very, tiny, and with the curved shower curtain bars the door was constantly in the way. We loved the resort pool and the lifeguards were super with the kids. The assistant manager (Jorge) was very kind and generous at check out, taking $ off our bill for our trouble. We are several meals at the hotel and the food was excellent and the service perfect. The valet experience was challenging - we waited at least 20 minutes for our car while others came after us received theirs. Twice the car was brought around, but left me stuck behind parked vehicles. Not sure I would stay there again as there are so many great choices in Houston, but I wouldn't dismiss the possibility.

Great hotel! Up to date amenities, good service. We stayed on the concierge level, and we loved the cheese plates, nightly cocktail hour and after dinner desserts/sweets set up on our floor. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Expedia rooms are on lower level with low ceilings

Posted Nov 30, 2014
I like this hotel, have stayed in it before. The quirky lobby/mezzanine level is cumbersome when going to your 1st floor room. when i stayed before i had much larger bathroom configuration. We booked through expedia and were assigned rooms on 1st floor, which is below lobby level. the ceilings are very low.
