Just a hotel really - disappointing.
Posted Jan 10, 2013
Pros: The hotel was nice, but not a special as anticipated. It was dissapointing to find that we were charged for parking at the hotel It is dissapoint
Cons: Drop the "United" fleecing mentality
Location: no swimming
The hotel was nice, but not a special as anticipated. It was disappointing to find that we were charged for parking at the hotel It is disappointing to be charged for water in any hotel, but an exclusive hotel where a premium is paid, should not charge for water. The bathroom was a dated and small. The pool was out of action due to cleaning. There was nothing relaxing about the Spa. Very over-crowded. Everything was expensive. It was a nice hotel, but is being run like United would run it. Charge for anything they possibly can. I can find better hotels in Houston for less money, so will not stay again.

One of a kind in Houston
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: Beautiful and conveniently located
Cons: Rooms are a bit small
Location: Lush green oasis tucked in the middle of everything
There is truly nothing like this tucked away oasis. The rooms are a bit on the small side if you are trying to fit a family of four in one room for a week or more, but the service is great and our kids would be very upset if we stayed anywhere else during our frequent trips to Houston.

Pros: service and amenities
Cons: room was a little small

We went to this hotel as a family. The service was spectacular. The grounds are beautiful and the amenities are even better. It was like being in a resort in the city.

Pros: Service
Location: Secluded, beautiful
We love the Houstonian! Great for families. The rooms are spacious and clean. The pool is definitely kid-friendly and the food is good. Having access to the gym/classes/kid's gym is a huge bonus. You will enjoy your stay.

Great place to relax and be pampered
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness of the room, great service. Ate at the Olivette, excellent food there.
Cons: The hotel is rather large and can feel like a maze your first night. This is just something guests have to get used to.
Location: It's very close to downtown Houston but I never ventured outside of the Houstonian so can't comment too much here.
I stayed at the Houstonian for a business trip and felt very much at ease. The room service was excellent and my rooms was always clean and fresh. Although I did have time to use the spa, the fitness center was more than satisfactory.

Aging Hotel
Posted Jan 15, 2013
Pros: The lobby area was very nice.
Cons: The food!
Location: The location was fine.
The hotel is beautiful, but it is aging. While we were walking to our room, we could smell sewage in the hall way. When we got in our room, the toilet was not flushing properly. We went to eat in the restaurant that evening, and for $100, the meal was not worth it. We had heard on TV that this their restaurant was great, but the food did not meet the level of the hype. Later that night when we went to bed, it felt like there was bugs in the bed, but we could not see anything.

Wonderful time at this hotel! My husband loved all of the fitness facilities and the food was great when we celebrated his birthday Friday night. It is always a treat to stay at the Houstonian.

Wonderful Spring Break Week in Houston!
Posted Jan 31, 2013
Pros: Great staff and excellent amenities!
Location: Central location
We stayed at the Houstonian for a Spring Break vacation to see family in Houston. We chose the hotel due to the ratings, heated pools for the kids & an excellent price through Expedia. The Houstonian was simply amazing!! It is in a great central location with amazing amenities and the staff is top-notch! I had reservations about our family of four having to stay at a hotel for an entire week - usually we get a vacation rental home or condo...but the Houstonian was a great alternative! Hotel guests can use the private health club that has heated pools & this was a big hit with the kids. They swam every day even when the weather was a bit chilly. The health club is spotlessly clean and luxurious. We had to order room service quite often - the food was delicious, a good value as well! For our next visit to Houston, the Houstonian will be my first pick! Thanks for a fabulous stay!!

Great stay. Loved the heated pool. Lots of workers outside. Not sure who to tip. One time I just saw them standing around counting their tips. Otherwise would def. Return
