Perfect place to stay for a night at the TheaterPosted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: Location, comfort and convenience were top notch.
Cons: I wasn't fond of the breakfast buffet. How do you make eggs that tasteless?
Location: You are in the heart of the Houston Theater district so entertainment and food are only a short walk away.
Easy early checkin, attentive and helpful Valet and doormen. Room was nice, quiet, and comfortable. A short walk to the Bayou Music Center. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant though the breakfast was lack luster.

Night on the townPosted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: Convience to theaters
My husband and I live in Houston but due to the fact I work downtown we decided on going to see a show at the Hobby Center. The Lancaster was in perfect distance for walking to the venue. I was intially afraid it might rain on us and contact the front desk and was informed they had "enough umbrellas to make Mary Poppins blush", I thought that was cute and appreciated how preparred they were should bad weather arrive on us. Had a wonderful evening at the theater and a increadible breakfast before walking back to my office the next morning. Thank you Lancaster for such a nice and restful overnight get away.

This is a great alternative to the chain hotels in downtown Houston. I stayed here many years ago and was not impressed, but the updates that have been made, while keep that old hotel experience will keep me coming back.

Great location, great staff, great restaurant!Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: ambience, décor, comfortable room, great staff
Location: movies, theater, baseball games, lots of dining, they have a shuttle too that will take you within 3 miles of the hotel
It was fabulous! The staff was so warm and friendly and always went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. The room was very comfortable and an adequate size, it wasn't huge, but it was plenty. The Lion's Den is great and has snacks for purchase with cash or room charge and a microwave for use. I loved the ambiance when I first walked in. The hotel was built in the 20's and the décor and music fit that time period and was just wonderful. I will be staying at this hotel every time I come to Houston in the future!

First Time Stay in Downtown HoustonPosted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: Comfort, style, location-history
Cons: A mini Spa would be nice.
Location: close to everything -arts, history, food.
The welcoming was beyond excellent. The Clerk was the nicest, funniest man, who made checking in fun! Everything was wonderful.

Beautifully Restored Hotel in the Arts DistrictPosted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff. Nicely appointed rooms with a large bathroom. Refrigerator in the room. Super comfortable bed.
Cons: We were very pleased and have nothing negative to say.
Location: The hotel is downtown and is located in the arts district. Restaurants are within walking district as well as theatres.
While we only stayed for one night, it was a very pleasant stay. The hotel has been renovated and looks new. Check in was handled professionally and courteously. The hotel offers a wine reception each evening between 5-6pm, and the cabernet offering we chose was good. While the hotel has a restaurant, it also is located in the arts district and has some restaurant choices close by (within walking distance). Our room (502) was nicely appointed and had everything we needed. Super comfortable bed made for a good night's sleep. In the morning we had vouchers for a full buffet breakfast. While it was not out of the ordinary, it WAS good food and the area was clean and kept well stocked. The hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle for travel within a three mile radius. Not only would we stay here again, we WILL as we plan to return in the fall for another museum exhibit, and this hotel will be booked for it.

Very nice place!Posted Jun 12, 2014
The hotel has been renovated, and while my room was small relative to a chain-brand hotel, everything was very comfortable and of good quality. I appreciated the printer and snack bar in th "Lion's Den." Will definitely stay here again.

Older HotelPosted May 28, 2014
Pros: Room and bed.
Cons: Elevators were under renovation.
Location: Heart of downtown; can walk to major businesses or entertainment.
Staff and room were excellent. This is an older hotel, and only one of two elevators was working while I stayed there, and as I was on the 12th floor, it was a long wait going up or down. Believe this was a temporary problem, so I would consider staying again. As with all downtown hotels, the parking was breathtakingly expensive. Really comfortable room and bed.
