Location & Luxury

Posted Dec 21, 2014
We booked the Lancaster because it is right next door to the Bayou Music Center. We went to see a show. Right when you drive up the Valet guys are extremely nice. They unload your bags and open every single door. When you check in they offer a glass of Champagne. Super nice staff :)

Luxury has its price.

Posted Dec 21, 2014
Pros: covered above.
Cons: shuttle would run until midnight. Breakfast should include a few more choices such as pancakes or waffles, milk, toast of various grains.
Location: plenty of things to do if the immediate area was where your event is.
We stayed here because it was where our friends wanted to stay who had been staying there for years. We were going to see Fleetwood Mac and spend the night afterwards before driving home and back to work in the afternoon. Bed was comfortable; blackout curtains were good with the exception of at the top where light came through making them about 85% effective. We ate in the restaurant downstairs and had a delightful meal with our friends before the shuttle took us and dropped us off at the Toyota Center. We did have to walk back later due to the fact the shuttle was pulled out of duty at 11pm. The concert ended about 10:53pm. I remember the bathroom was large in comparison with most others. The lighted closet was a nice feature. If we were attending a closer event, the hotel would be perfectly placed. Breakfast was included with the price of the room, which was a tad steep for my liking, but it was the lowest point of the stay.

Room too small!

Posted Dec 19, 2014
Pros: Renovated recently.
Cons: Clean the windows. Staff attitude.
Booked three rooms weeks in advance. Expedia VIP client. Called to ensure a room upgrade. Ended up in corner room that was way too small for the two of us. Couldn't get the GM to call me to discuss. It will be awhile before I book this hotel again. Need some time to process the lack of response and staff attitude.

Wonderfull hotel for business travel.

Posted Dec 17, 2014
Pros: The small intimate surroundings and the, little touches that make it special.
Cons: Nope! Serves my purposes just fine.
Location: The business district is within easy walking distance and the Lancaster provides a shuttle service to the Downtown area for those bad weather days.
The hotel provides a clean comfortable haven for those traveling business people, who don't need a lot of extras. The breakfast provided in the hotel gets you off to a good healthy start. The staff are personable and give you the attention you expect, but are professional in their responsibilities. That is my go to place when in Houston.

Classic hotel

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: Classic feel is small property
Cons: Bath size was very small in room 1001
Location: Great access to theater and office buildings
This is an older property with a great feel and remodeled without loosing the charm. My room was a little on the small side particularly the bath room. Not a big problem but I have stayed in the hotel prior and had a nice size room. You might ask at check in about room and bath size.

Houston's only historic hotel

Posted Nov 30, 2014
Pros: Attention to detail.
Location: Just blocks from the Houston Metro rails to the Museum District. Houston also has 7 miles of tunnels that can be accessed next door.
We enjoyed a nice stay in a beautiful hotel. In a city that doesn't pay much attention to history, this hotel has almost 90 years of interesting events and characters. Lovely place.

Pros: It was downtown.
I expected more from such an expensive hotel. It doesn't compete with truly luxury hotels.
