A big disappointment

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Bad room given.. not near the pool. I was told since I booked through expedia thats why I got that room. So they moved us to a different room with one king bed and brought in two cots. All the staff ever could answer questions and did a poor job at letting us know about where we could find things and showing us around. I felt like we had to fin for ourselves the whole time.

Resort has not been maintained

Posted Jun 20, 2014
Plumber had to come twice to fix commode, dead bugs, smudges all over doors, inside and out. Apparently with new construction all has gone downhill in the rest of resort.

Not impressed at all

Posted Jun 18, 2014
When we arrived I found that the room booked on Expedia was not the same one that was in the pictures. We were in this out of dated jr. suite that looked as if it was a bunch of old apartment complexes. No where near the pool, or people for that matter! When we went for dinner I asked if we could change closer to the pool so my daughter could walk out and not have to call someone to get us or drive over there. The guy was put out that we wanted to change. Told us it would be $40 more/night. Fine, it's worth her safety and the other room was sad, dark and old and dingy anyway. We took bottom floor. Was supposed to be king with pullout. It was king with a chair. I called for a cot. Girl wasnt friendly either. Extra $25 a night. Well, I needed it'd once the sofa pullout wasn't there. Didn't show up for over an hour so called back. The guy I spoke with was apologetic and got one over. We ordered room service after that. Took forever. I asked for the chips and salsa and chopped guacamole. They didn't bring the chips so I called back. Took another 30 min. Next day, we needed to be gone to meeting by 7 am. Valet said they would be there at 7. They were not. Had to talk to guy cleaning the pool that had Wilkie talkie to get office to send someone pronto. Needless to say we were off to a late start. Had to pay $20 extra a day too just to use the pool. I've never had to pay to use a "resort" pool. I will not return there again. Rude front staff and ridiculous fees for things.

Nice hotel next to river

Posted May 18, 2014
Clean, nice resort. Only problem I had was I requested a king size bed, reserved 4 months in advance. Got to room and had two standard beds. Hotel was completely booked so I could not change room. Other than that it was a decent hotel close to the woodlands pavilion

Nice.....but Old!

Posted May 9, 2014
Pros: Location for this stay!
Cons: Upgrade rooms...
Location: Great location.....the Woodlands is a wonderful place to eat, drink, and shop!
This resort is nice, but older...I can see how it was once a premier place to go! It is difficult to find, but for the Woodlands, that is not unusual ! They are building new facilities....looks like conds, maybe, or a hotel. A lot of newer hotels have taken this hotel's place in the area. Friendly staff!

cooker 72, We appreciate you sharing your feedback with us. As you mentioned, we are currently under renovation and building a new sleeping room building, steakhouse and lazy river as well as updating our current Fairway Pines guest rooms. The Forest Lake lodges will no longer be available at the end of this year. One really unique thing about The Woodlands is all the trees, but it can make it difficult to find where you're going :) Glad you enjoyed our friendly staff and hope you will return post renovation this fall! Best regards, Jasmine Avery

Nice Place, Not a Nice Room

Posted May 2, 2014
Cons: The room, some of the carpet was coming off the floor.
The Resort was nice... the pool was fun except the big slides were closed while we were there. The room was not very nice, I was not pleased with it. My wife and I didn't think the room was worth the money that we spent... The staff was very friendly so the only downside was the room...

Great woodland hotel!

Posted Apr 20, 2014
Pros: Free shuttle to woodlands mall Cool pool area and excellent slide!!
Cons: Check in to inform about hotel restaurants and hotel facilities
Location: The woodlands is a gorgeous area. Woodlands waterway is beautiful at night.
Just returned from a fab stay here. Beautiful grounds, excellent pool area, staff friendly and there for every request! Recommend staying in the Waterscape 5000 building as rooms are more modern. Great restaurants and food. Lots of constructions taking place but we knew about it and it didn't bother us too much.

Relaxing stay in the woods

Posted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: See above
Location: Very private and quiet but close to Market St, a nice shopping area and many good restaurants. Fairly close to Bush International Airport.
This hotel has a very nice lodge like ambiance. My room overlooked a small lake with lots of birds and wildlife and the small balcony off the room was a nice spot to have a cup of tea and enjoy the tranquility. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious, although the bathroom could do with updating. The only issue I had with this hotel was the room service. I ordered breakfast for one person; the Continental breakfast, which had a choice of juice, coffee and 2 pastries. I received 6 pastries, enough coffee for 2 people and was charged for 2 breakfasts! I don't know why they did this; I never once indicated that I needed 2 breakfasts and they never asked me. If they had checked the room they would have known that only one person was occupying it. I had already asked the front desk to adjust the bill to one breakfast and they told me they would. When I checked out, however, it was still on the bill, obviously no-one had addressed it. I asked the receptionist to adjust the bill and after looking at the receipt, she was also confused why this happened. She adjusted my bill, and all was fine, but it was kind of a bad mistake and a hassle for me. Other than that, I had a good stay.

Nice Hotel

Posted Mar 18, 2014
The hotel is undergoing major renovations and extensions but we knew this before choosing and the disruption was minimal. Lovely hotel, friendly staff everything we as a large family group were looking for. The resort will be amazing when renovations complete.

Good family sopt

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Noise levels between rooms and outside stairs. Parking can be a challenge and the site construction makes things difficult.
Location: Lots of things within 10 minute drive. Woodlands mall, many food choices, access to I-45.
Customers seemed to be a lot of families and young couples. The rooms are in separate unit clusters that look nice and have a fun atmosphere. The downside is the noise from surrounding rooms and the external stairway. A LOT of construction going on both at the hotel and the surrounding connector roads. Room is older, but in working order.
