Huanghua is located 50 miles (80 kilometers) away from Tianjin and 120 miles (193 kilometers) from Beijing.
Don't restrict yourself to Huanghua; Hebei features a treasure trove scenic and cultural attractions which await the savvy traveler. Cangzhou, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the east, and Dagang, 45 miles (72 kilometers) to the south of Huanghua are also worth checking out.
While you are here in Huanghua, visit Tianjin. Approximately 50 miles (80 kilometers) away, this regional transport and shopping hub is home to TEDA Football Stadium, Tianjin University and Drum Tower. Former Residence of Liang Qichao, Zhongxin Park and Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall are also good places to spend a little time.
Learning the local language is the purest way to bridge the cultural divide, so why not practice a few handy Mandarin words and phrases before you arrive. "Nǐ yào bú yào gēn wǒ tiàowǔ" is Mandarin for "Would you like todance with me?" Another useful sentence is "Zhèiwèi xiānsheng huì qīngdān" (This gentleman/lady will pay for everything).
As the sun sets on your adventures, spend your last renminbi on last-minute keepsakes and say Zàijiàn to the interesting characters you've met and the spots you've enjoyed.
