Main buffet is small and limited for how many guests were at the hotel. Received no upgrade or preferred services for VIP gold status. Lovely staff with great service. Overall wouldn’t rate a 5 star, outdated and limited luxuries put this more like a 4*

We had to wait 3 hours after check in for our room. Bottled water was only stocked when the room was changed over each day, otherwise you had to go off resort to get bottled water. Room service was extra cost on top of all inclusive The buffet was closed from 4-630 pm so there was no option of food between those hours. Food was only available in the restaurant and not at your sitting area. There was only one bar for the entire resort, drink service was slow if existent at all Staff was variable in terms of friendliness and how helpful they were to be. In saying that, the room was very clean and the food was good, very fresh and lots of options

Dear LaurenThank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Barceló Huatulco hotel.We regret the wait you experienced upon arrival and that it was not possible to deliver your room on time, we are working to ensure that this situation is not repeated.We would like to say that the hotel has various certifications, one of them is the hygienic handling of food, therefore, it is not possible to provide food service outside of the restaurants, in the pool or beach area.Also, at Barceló Huatulco, we are highly committed to safeguarding the environment so, we have a campaign to reduce PET consumption, for this reason, bottled water is not given in consumption centers, however, we offer purified water to all our guests whenever they request it.We read with concern your remark about the meals schedule because we offer service from 12:00 to 18:00 in one restaurant, then from 18:00 to 22:30. Also, we have four bars (Jorongo, tortuga’s bar, one more in the lobby, and the last one in Oaxaca theater), which are in operations in different time along the day. On the other hand, we want to thank you for highlighting the comfort and cleanliness of the room in which you stayed, as well as your recognition of the freshness and great flavor of food prepared by our chefs, since this is essential for our clients to have a complete holiday experience.Once again, we thank you for choosing our hotel for your holiday, we hope to have the opportunity to serve you one more time soon.Best regards.

The property is clean and the wait staff were excellent. This was our 3 trip to the area and the second time to this resort. Instead of getting a VIP expedia room upgrade we had a room down grade. They also allow people to reserve the pool loungers so be ready to be up at 5am to get a spot by the pool. Some of the immenities such as the mini golf have really gone down hill.

On the other hand, reserving lounge chairs is not allowed, but some guests incurred in this practice. We have been working on this problem and when our team identified that there is a lounge chair that is not being used, they offered it to someone else. The property is not modern but it is well kept. It is not a huge resort but perfect for relaxing. We booked 3 nights and we were able to make reservations for dinner at the Mexican and Italian restaurant and food was delicious. The buffet restaurants are decent. We went downtown and the taxi services we requested from the lobby and there were always taxis available.

Our family really enjoyed this property. Lots to do for the whole family. Decent rooms, nice pool area and beautiful beach area. Staff was good. The food was decent as well as far as buffet goes, drinks were decent. We did upgrade to premium from reading online reviews and seemed to be worth it. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Loved the warm water. Great to be able to access water sports for free like kayaking and the small catermaran. Lovely staff. Very clean. I hurt my foot on rocks and life guard gave me excellent service. Cons was the drop off for swimming but dudnt bother me.

Rooms are nice and large. Premium lounge has good service and higher end alcohol. Buffet is small and is very busy at breakfast expect a wait. One morning there was no black tea. Options are limitedn(no bacon, limited fruit). Some staff didn't speak any English which was the first time I encountered this. Pool loungers fill up early!.And not s large amount available unfortunately.

It’s decent. Great food.
Check in was slow. 3 specialty restaurants that you can only book between 3pm and 5pm. First night was supposed to be a free meal at one of these be cause they are not included in the all inclusive but off course they were all booked. On my 2 other buffet style restaurants. Food was great. Better food than the buffet ones at Dreams but Dreams specialty restaurants are free but one. Dreams is more updated and has more bar space. Bedsheets at Barcelo smelled like mildew. Also no hot water in the shower. That is all. I enjoyed my stay. But if I had to choose between these two that are next door to eachother I’d pick Dreams.

Place is right at the beach. The service is excellent and the food is very good. My wife and I enjoyed our stay and, would come back if given a chance.

There was no shuttle from the airport to the resort, but were able to rangle up a taxi. Check in was a bit slow, but luckily accurate on the 2 rooms we booked. Rooms were clean, spacios and tidy. But doors are too thin and hallway noise was loud during the night. Staff were beautiful and helpful, especially breakfast buffet staff working so hard and always friendly. Andrea and Luis breakfast staff were above and beyond! Weren't thrilled with the food, but found good restaurants in town. Drinks were great, staff was lovely. Great place for swimming in the beautiful, clean, warm water. Sorry, we i wouldn't recommend the food , (other than breakfast) but otherwise a beautiful experience. Thank you!!

Lovely resort
This is a lovely resort and a beautiful location. The premium level was definitely worth it. Enjoyed the little catamaran tour of the bay and fish spa. Would have liked better communication about what eating places were open and when because of low occupancy. Room was a bit cold and we could not override for less ac.

The personnel was very amicable. The dining options were good. The overall customer service received was greatly. The room cleaning ladies were very nice and honest. One especially who left a gold chain my brother in law lost in his room where he could find it. The facility is located on a beautiful beach. We would definitely go back and recommend it. Thank you!
