Pros: Beautiful historic building with large garden and huge pool. Public rooms were elegant. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: It's hard to think of anything that needs improvement.
Location: Good location beside the Perfume River and across from the Citadel. Close to the Dragon Boats. If coming by train a mere 2 minute walk to hotel.

PERFECTION IN HUEPosted Jul 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was perfect in every way. The deluxe river view room was spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean. Service was excellent throughout, especially at the cocktail bar, at the pool, and in the spa. The Assistant Manager found time to chat with us on several occasions, and all the staff were very helpful. We can, and will strongly recommend this luxury boutique hotel.

Great Hotel. would definitely returnPosted Mar 26, 2013
Pros: overall ambience and attention to detail
Cons: intimate, friendly and authentic
Location: overlooks Perfume River and in a convenient location
After leaving the La Residence we stayed at The Sofitel Metropole in Hanoi and we find the La Residence to be superior over the Metropole. Only negative comment is that our room had a connecting door and adjoining room guest had TV on all night.

Incomptent staffPosted Mar 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Nice hotel, but spoilt by poor service from the staff. Was woken up by staff vacuuming outside my room early in the morning. At breakfast, no-one came to offer me tea or coffee, and the buffet had no coffee machine. The next morning, was interrupted as I was getting dressed by a member of staff who came into my room without knocking.

Very Nice Building & SettingPosted Mar 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Overall, it was very good. Good setting, good service, close to town and sights and railway station. My only quibble was that the swimming pool was a little too small for lap swimming.

Colonial La ResidencePosted Nov 12, 2012 on Hotels.com
Wonderful hotel, very welcoming and accomodated our early morning check in. Room was a good size but no bath only shower with a delux room. Buffet breakfast very good and nice touch with the chef coming round to say hello to all the guests in the restaurant. Good location and within easy walking distance of the Imperial Citadel. Only small criticism would be that the conceirge and receptionists constantly plugged the hotel restaurant for dinner and seemed to disapprove when we booked dinner elsewhere, but only minor point, otherwise lovely stay.
