“Short Stay”

I was transiting W VA and Huntington looked like a convenient overnight stop. I have had good success with Quality Inn motels and chose the Huntington location. It is located on a busy highway and several miles from the downtown area. Their driveway is very steep causing my car to drag its front bumper going in and rear bumper on departure. There are very few restaurants nearby and zero entertainment offerings. If I had known about the motel's location, I would have opted to drive a few more miles into the downtown Huntington area for my overnight accommodations. I was not familiar with Huntington locale and made reservations on line. Upon arrival, I found the lobby restroom was inoperative due to leaking plumbing. After a long days travel, I was in need of bathroom facilities but forced to wait until after checking into my room. I had to wait in the lobby for a little while because the attendant was having a smoke break leaving the front desk unattended (5 PM). This also occurred when I checked out in the morning (6:30 AM). The attendant was outside on a smoke break when I tried to check-out. The parking lot was large but the lighting was sparse making me wonder about security. My concerns were unnecessary but I still had doubts. The continental breakfast was adequate, the coffee was good and the fruit was fresh. This Quality Inn is not up to the standards that I am accustomed to visiting. I will not return nor recommend this motel.

“Worst experience ever”

The rooms were dirty and smelled of smoke. The ceiling in the shower was falling apart. The carpets around the heaters was wet (for unknown reasons). There was hair in the sink. The neighborhood was sketchy. The closest other business appeared to be a strip joint. Keep driving.
