Does not meet expectations of a 4 star rated hotelPosted Jul 31, 2015
Pros: The property itself is very quaint, and the location is beautiful on the lake with a small sandy beach for swimming. The dining room was very pretty.
Cons: Better attention to detail in the rooms and thoughtfulness as to the comfort of the guests.
My family rented 3 rooms at this hotel. My room was clean, but had a side table only on one side of the bed. The person on the other side had no light, and nowhere to put a pair of glasses, glass of water, etc. for easy access, even though there was room for a small table there. The only mirrors were over the sink in the bathroom and at the back of the closet, necessitating shoving all the clothes to the side if someone wanted to check their appearance. This was a poorly designed room. The stopper was missing from the bathroom sink. In the shower, there were 2 dispensers, but after the first person got in the shower, they discovered them to be for shampoo and conditioner. There was a bracket to hold a soap dispenser, but the dispenser was not there. This was apparently the case for both the other 2 rooms as well, and there were no bars of soap provided. Another member of my party requested a wake-up call for the next morning, and it never came. One would expect a better designed room and more attention to detail for a room at this price. Very disappointing.

a sunny room overlooking the lake.Posted Apr 24, 2015
Pros: Relatively small; friendly service ; old style "boutique" inn.
Cons: Once the warmer weather arrives..some interior and exterior maintenance should be undertaken to paint ; re-shingle some of the roofs; replace room fan
Location: Excellent..overlooking the lake . Fishing; hiking; boating and golf are all right there.
The location and grounds are a wonderful northern setting for this boutique inn. The inn is very "comfortable" with a dining room overlooking the lake; a small but functional bar area; a cosy lounge area near the bar for friends or others to meet ; and rooms with easy access to all areas to the areas of the inn. The food was above average as was the service and overall experience. We would return.

Heavenly location, lovely hotel & delicious foodPosted Feb 17, 2015 on Hotels
The Sherwood Inn is a wonderful place to go! The rooms are very pleasant and comfortable, the food is absolutely delicious, the staff are outstanding, and the Inn is located in an incredibly beautiful nature paradise! There are many fun activities to do right onsite (snowshoeing, skating, cross country skiing, etc.). The Inn is located on a beautiful pristine lake surrounded by a forest. It's heavenly! The staff go above and beyond! Wow we were all so very impressed!

Winter GetawayPosted Feb 14, 2015 on Hotels
Very comfortable stay. Room was very clean and well maintained. Minor issue (light bulb) was addressed promptly. On-site dining was very enjoyable... delicious meal. The large property lent itself to varied activities.... X-sking, snowshoeing, and skating. It was an enjoyable weekend getaway.

Snowshoe escape in the MuskokasPosted Feb 11, 2015 on Hotels
We absolutely loved our stay - from the moment we arrived to the time we left, everything we experienced was excellent. It was lovely to be able to escape to this beautiful part of Ontario and enjoy our Canadian winter. We brought our own snowshoes and were thrilled with the nearby trails. The weather cooperated, bringing perfect, powder snow making exploration fun and challenging. The food was also incredibly delicious (the Chef's signature rainbow trout divine). Thank you Keegan for the reco! We will definitely return.

Pros: The main building was inviting; friendly staff; good food.
Cons: The hot tub which is located in a separate building just for the hot tub wasn't easily accessible at this time of year.
Nice resort although we didn't have time to take advantage of all the amenities. We were there for a very short period of time... While dining, we asked one of the staff for breakfast suggestions as we had to leave for a sporting event very early the next morning. She offered for us to place an order with her and that they could have a breakfast all packed up for us as we checked out at 6:45am. Fantastic customer service!

Nice inn, in the middle of Muskoka heavenPosted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: Location, quality of services, amenities
Cons: Perhaps the heating system in the room could be replaced/repaired to be quieter. Exterior aspect could be renewed (repainted, maybe).
Location: Breathe clean air, do snow walking (with or without snow-shoes), cross country skiing, walk on the lake (completely frozen now), take lots of pictures
Excellent location, quiet, clean air, great amenities. The road was cleared (plowed), no problem for parking. The room was clean, roomier than expected, nice balcony with lake view. We found firewood prepared for the fireplace, bathrobes in the closet, working TV, etc. The reception is well organized, they assisted with everything we needed: adjusting the room temperature to our taste, provided ski, snowshoes, directions, and so on. We had dinner on Saturday night, they allowed us to change the initial booking, the meal was well prepared and the wine was chilled. Hotel condition looks a bit worn (old), although in good condition. Room comfort is excellent if you can ignore the heating system noise.
