Do not recommend

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything from check in to checkout
Location: Huntsville is a beautiful community with water sports, good dining choices and a vibrant downtown
Bad experience not to be repeated. Hotel needs repairs and updating. Staff not prepared and unresponsive to requests. Health department would shut them down for state of breakfast room.

OK for an overnight stay; comfortable bed

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Quiet
Cons: Better service at desk. Attendant apparently working simultaneously at at least one and possibly two other motels, with long absences from desk.
Difficult to get service at desk --- see comment below.

Expected a bit more!

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: I like the suite that we had it was very spacious and was the perfect fit for our family of 5.
Cons: The hospitality, the rooms should all have working phones as well as heat for colder conditions. They could make sure that repairs are done.
Location: It was close to downtown Huntsville. It wasn't too far of a drive to Algonquin Park.
The guy at the front desk seemed more interested in his phone then the guests. We checked into our room and were happy about the size for having 5 people in our room. We quickly learned that we didn't have a phone in our room when we went to order our supper. The guy at the front desk told us it had been ripped out by previous guests. The room was freezing and the heat was not working. We could only have showers because there was no drain plug for the tub. Outside our room in the hallway was a unpleasant smell that never seemed to go away. The kids play area outside the hotel was not able to be use as it was covered in caution tape. The breakfast wasn't bad except it wasn't stocked up unless someone went to ask for more of something.

Disappointing

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: I really have no idea,, but replacing management with someone who would properly supervise housekeeping and maintenance staff comes to mind.
Location: Beautiful countryside and closeness to Algonquin Park.
There were plumbing problems in the bathroom that had been temporarily fixed but not satisfactorily. Plaster was falling from the ceiling due to a leakage of water over head. The cleaning of the room was spotty at best, and there were areas that had obviously not been cleaned in months. This, and for a premium rate, far too high even for a long weekend.

There was nothing positive about this hotel.

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: It was in Huntsville!
Cons: Sell it!!!
Location: It is close to the highway but far from downtown.
They sent me to a room that was occupied. They actually made a key that opened the occupied room. I did not leave the next room for fear of someone coming in to my room. There was hair on the carpet and dirt in hidden places. I had no towels in the room. The outside entrance was dirty.

BEWARE!

Posted May 13, 2014
Pros: Checking out!
Cons: Close the hotel until Renovations are complete...
I booked a room at the Huntsville Super 8 based on the reputation and my experience with other Super 8 Hotels (Midland, NIagara Falls and Peterborough). Huge Mistake!!!! This hotel seems to be under long term, poor quality renovations. The first room (105) that we stayed in did not have a lock latch on the door. Also, when I checked the patio door it was unlocked and the safety bar was broken (jagged piece of hanging metal). When I asked to switch rooms because we felt unsafe, I felt like a irritant rather than a concerned customer. We were given a king size room (111) which I was told usually costs extra but he would waive the fee. This room was unclean and still under renovations. When checking the mattress for bedbugs, I found dirt in the creases (thankfully though not bedbugs). There were chunks of drywall dust on the window sill, patched up drywall on the wall but unpainted and a stained shower curtain. Unfortunately, because there was a no cancellation policy we were unable to switch hotels. There are several other hotels in Huntsville book with one of those instead!!
