Little gemPosted Jun 9, 2012
This hotel is situated in Parame, which is only a 10-minute drive from the ferry port and close to an excellent beach. It overlooks the main triangle in Parame, where many of the local shops are situated - including an excellent bookshop (la Librarie) and one selling unusually attractive postcards, as well as grocery and bakery stores. Parking is generally available right outside the hotel, and is free after 7pm. Should all the slots there be filled, there is a large, free carpark within 2 minutes' walk. The young couple running the hotel could hardly have been more 'sympa' and helpful. They voluntarily upgraded our room, which proved to be comfortable and fairly stylish, with a large bathroom fitted with a powerful shower. Attached to the hotel is a pavement cafe and a restaurant offering set menus in the evening at 29 and 38 Euros plus an a la carte menu. Our a la carte choices were both absolutely excellent and we commend the chef. We will certainly be returning next time we need to overnight in St Malo.

The Antheus provides cheap bedrooms above a restaurant, which is about a 60 minute easy paced walk from the old city. The rooms were very clean, you could open the windows, and the area seemed very safe. We stayed one night, a Sunday night, and there was no reception desk -- we arrived around 11am and were lucky to find the cleaning staff there. We were allowed to leave our luggage, and they carried it up the two flights of narrow stairs to our room (no elevator). The restuarant was closed on Sunday, however one staff person arrived around 8am on Monday and she checked us out and called a taxi for us. The taxi from the ferry terminal to the hotel was 15 Euro, and it cost 8 Euro to go to the train station on Monday. Restaurants, open on Sunday evening, were hard to find in that area, although lots would have been available in the old town.

Can't ask for more...Posted Sep 23, 2011
this Hotel was our last day in France after 200 miles cycling in Brittany. The owners could not have done more to make us feel welcome, comfortable in our room and looked after. The hotel is about 40 mins walk to the wall St Malo, but the local market and little shops around where very nice.Just to add to their kindness, just to mention that I forgot my shortsight glasses in the room. I phone them and ask them how they wanted me to organise to pay them to send them to me: they wouldn't take any money and 4 days later they were through my letter box in a plastic glass box, so they didn't get damage in the Mail. Honestly I would go there-any time!!!

You get what you pay for. This was a cheap overnight stay. The actual restuarant looks like it could be good. It did not open for food (Sunday night) so we were unable to even get a sandwich. Hotel obviously undergoing refurbishment. Owner was pleasant enough though so it may improve.

Nice little hotel once we had found it. Setting St Malo and then street name on a sat nav is a waste of time as the hotel is actually in Parame. Please could proper addresses be used as many people now use sat navs. We chose it because it had a resturant, unfortuantely it's closed on Tuesdays, the night we were there. Not the fault of the hotel, but this information could be included in the details on the web site. Staff very helpful and pleasant.
