“Beautiful View”

The view was great, located in the hills outside of Florence. A little hard to get to. You either have to take a taxi everywhere, bus or have a rental car. And do not expect much help from the front desk. There is a person there part of the time. But, she does a good job when there. Therefore you are pretty much on your own. It is better if you are an experienced traveler. Although we will be staying there again. The rooms are large and roomy but, sparcely furnished. Very quiet and peaceful to get away from the fast pace of the city. No restaurant or bar yet, maybe in June "2008".

“Guest House”

We took our honeymoon in Florence and stayed here because we didn't want to deal with the traffic and noise of the city itself. When considering this guest house, please remember it is not a full service hotel at all, and perhaps nothing that you're accustomed to. It was quiet , pleasant, and the staff are very accomodating, however. Its situated on top of a mountain or large hill overlooking Florence and is surrounded by Olive tree groves. Its a nice alternative to a busy hotel in the city and although difficult to find at first (even with a TomTom GPS), we found our way and used the public transportation (Bus) to get into the city several times. For what it is, I am glad we stayed there, and would do so again.

“Hardest Hotel to Find”

This is one of the most unique hotels I have ever stayed at. It is also, without a doubt, the single most difficoult hotel to find I have ever encountered. It is a converted monistary on top of hill with beautiful views. You cannot see the hotel from the street. The only access is via a small one lane road up a winding hill that has no street markers. It took us a hour and half to find the hotel even after we left the main highway. The only way we found the hotel was with the help of local people. Since it only has 12 rooms we spoke to the other guests about how they found the hotel. Their experience was worse than ours and twice as hard if they arrived at night since fewer local people were available to ask questions. However, don"t let this difficulty keep you from enjoying one of the most unique hotels in Florence. There is easy access via bus to Florence and the ambiance of the hotel is fantastic. There was a fairly severe rain leak into our room during the last night of our stay so it would good to understand if this type of issue has been resolved. Old monistaries do have some small issues.

“Not impressed”

I booked this holiday for my parents as they have had a lots of problems and needed a break. I was devastated when they returned to say no-one was at the hotel when they arrived no staff just the owner who showed them their room. No evening meal so they didn't eat the first night. When they were able to eat there was no menu, they could not choose what they would like and a meal of pasta and wine cost them 20 euros EACH! THe hotel was not manned for most of their stay - they could not try the wine tasting which my father was looking forward to, plus the hotel was located on a hill so they both had to walk to get up the hill they are both in their 60s and could not manage the walk every day so were confined to the hotel.
