“All We Could Have Expected”
We stayed 5 nights, Nice size rooms and bath with traditional Italian decor. Excellent restaurant attached. Staff spoke English. Convenient location from which to explore Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca. Bus stop for Florence nearby.
“great view, hard to reach”
Great view of Toscany from the rooms is waiting for you in this hotel . Rooms are large but do not look for any luxury like a refrigarator .. There is a very friendly typical Italian resturant on the ground floor sharing the great view of Toscany with delicius traditional Italian food . You definately need a car, there is no close public transport or any place in walking distance . Breakfast is simple but cheap .
“Beautiful views.”
This is a very nice hotel. Definitely need a car. The adjoining restaurant is excellent. Stefano, the night manager, was very friendly and very helpful. Grazie Stefano. We highly reccomend this hotel.
“Great, except if you don't have transportation up the mountain”
Hotel Villa Ambrosina is a wonderful hotel with a gorgeous view and a very good restaurant. Service was very good and the staff was extremely helpful. Be ready for a steep hike (30 minutes) if you don't have a car/ don't want to take a taxi (from Florence it costs about 20 euro to taxi). Overall highly recommended.
“Hotel Villa Ambrosina”
Hotel is only 15 min drive from main turist attractions of Florence. It is good for exploring Chianti and San Gimigniano, Voltera ...Nature and view are beutifull from the hotel. I am very satisfied and I would come here again.
“Nice and clean hotel in little town outside Florence, Italy”
Very nice and clean hotel. Sits ontop of a large hill with a good view. Suggest that you have a car to get to hotel. Need to go up VERY steep swithchback road from town. Can walk but would need to be in great shape. Not too easy to find, but thats Italy. Had a nice stay with a good size room that we were able to check in early. Peaceful setting in October.
“Great Hotel”
The only issue with this hotel is the same one others have already mention you really need to have a vehicle because the hill is very steep and it is a good distance walking up it to reach the hotel. Other than that this is one of the best hotels i have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The staff is very nice the rooms well kept and spacious for hotel rooms in Europe. The Restaurant right next to the hotel has some of the best food you'll find in Florence. The view from the hotel is absolutely beautiful.
“Nice hotel, but practically impossible to get to”
Like other travelers, my husband and I had a miserable time getting to this hotel. We took the bus to Tavarnuzze, but we were quite lost once we got off the bus as to where we should go. In actuality, we were reasonably close to the hotel (if you choose to ignore the horrible trek up the hill) but when I called the hotel from my cell phone and gave them very specific instructions as to where we were located (I'm talking street name, the gas station right in front of us, the bus stop we got off at, the name of the town) the lady at the front desk seemed utterly confused and told us she had no idea where we were. My husband took off on foot and finally found the hotel, which was only a kilometer and a half away. It was a very stressful experience and I was annoyed that we weren't given better directions. All that being said, the hotel was very nice and the room was large by European standards. The surrounding area was quite beautiful. I would stay there again, but only if we had a car.
“sega”
A snug hotel, located in a picturesque location. Situated on a hill overlooking the Tovarnuzze. Need to rent a car, otherwise it is very difficult to travel. A taxi from Florence to the hotel costs 40 euros. From the bus to go about 3 miles at a very steep hill. I therefore recommend that only if there is a car. Internet is very slow and in my room did not work Wi-Fi.
“Florence Hotel”
This hotel is not really n Florence. You truly need a car to consider staying here. Otherwise, it is on a LONG bus ride from Florence center city and then it is a tremendous walk up a mountain side. We got a taxi to take us to the train station on check out day and it was very expensive. Once you get there it is pretty, however, you can hear highway noise from below. The room was large for Europoean standards and fairly clean. Most of the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good, but exactly the same every morning. Air conditioning could not keep the room cool enough so we had to open the windows. This allowed the mosquitoes to come in, the noise from the highway & restaurant below, plus all the cigarette smoke from below. If I had it to do over, I would pay more and stay in hotel that is truly in Florence.
