Dirty and smelled bad

Posted Jul 3, 2014
I would not recommend staying here. We hadn't planned on it and I wish we hadn't stopped. The room smelled extremely musty, and after walking on the carpet, our feet were black. It was so disgusting. We also should have skipped the free breakfast. It had stale cereal and foods just sitting out that should have been kept warmed.

Good choice for Independence stay

Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: beds are clean and comfortable, staff is attentive
Cons: the rooms that say "no -smoking" shouldn't be smoked in. This is rule breaking on the part of the hotel guests but the hotel staff should check this
Location: We liked the restaurant Brother's Railroad Inn for our meal. We went to the Little House on the Prairie museum nearby and it was small but pleasant
This is a clean, well maintained hotel by Wyndam. It's in the Wal Mart parking lot so it's easy to get anything you need for your evening or your continuing trip. Nothing remarkable here just a clean, quiet room with the standard cereal bar breakfast. This seems to be a hotel for guys who are working the oilfields or oil industry in the area. I was concerned it would be loud at night but it was very quiet and pleasant. A fine choice for this small town.

comfortable room

Good utilitarian stopover. Nothing fancy. Suite is preferential as space was advantageous for two people staying in the room.

Needs a good deep cleaning!!!

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Not much
Cons: Have Corporate Microtel come in a do an audit. They will see it needs a good deep clean.
When we arrived the Hotel first tried to place us in a regular queen room. Jill (Microtel front desk employee) stated that Expedia did not send over our correct room purchase and this is the typical room purchase with Expedia. We thankfully had printed off our exact reservation/confirmation from Expedia and had the copy with us or it would have ended so differently. Jill had an attitude and was very upset that we had the paper copy proof since she first refused to look at our electronic copy on our phones. She provided the correct room key which was reserved. No apology about the supposed mix up just rudeness and disrespectfulness. We stayed in room 202 which is a queen suite; the room needs a good deep cleaning. The towels and washcloths were all stained which makes us wonder if they are washed properly. Since this made us wonder we just skipped using them all together and bought some towels at Wal-Mart to use. Stains on the couch (which we did not sit on), there is also a window seat that would have been wonderful to sit on but it had holes in it and was also stained. We have stayed many times at other Microtel Suites in different States and this particular Microtel needs to be check over by Corporate it is way below the normal standards elsewhere.

Perfect for a quick overnight stay

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: Helpful staff and comfortable beds.
Cons: Littlemore on the breakfast offerings.
Location: Just on the highway to our conference. Restaurants and shopping nearby.
Six of us were traveling to a weekend conference and needed an inexpensive place to overnight. The rooms were comfortable and the staff was very helpful. Water was hot and the complimentary breakfast was adequate, nothing to brag about but was enough.

No frills; but extremely comfortable beds!

Posted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: The beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean
Cons: The desk area in the room was small and the room didn't have enough space for a comfortable chair to read in.
Location: I didn't have time to sight-see. The location is near Wal-Mart which was convenient.
I don't think I've ever had a better night's sleep in a hotel room ever!

Exceeded Expectations

Posted Jan 8, 2014
Pros: New - clean - good beds - flat screen on wall - micro - refrig - good parking - good location - nice lady at desk...
Location: There to see Independence Community College - within 5 minutes... Wal-Mart within a walk.... on main strip
In a small town I did not expect such a big time hotel. Everything about the hotel was great and I know part of it was due to being on the new side... nevertheless a $169 value for less than half of that...
