“Over all good experience. Hotel cleaning staff walked in the next morning while was in bed.”
Loved the night life and shops close to hotel. Can tell it is an older hotel but maintained well. Was walked in on staff as was still in bed, thought had checked out.
“Very nice hotel”
very clean and great food
“An attractive and well-maintained classic”
The common rooms and my own room were in excellent shape: a very attractive, small (now often called "boutique") hotel in the center of downtown Indianapolis. My room was small as was the bathroom, but both were confortable and quite adequate for one person. The food was excellent for dinner (sea bass) and breakfast (standard eggs, toast, bacon, and potatoes) and the bar was very congenial. The concierge parking was less expensive and far more prompt than at the larger and newer hotels. Many fine restaurants are within a block or two. It was raining, and I chose to eat in the hotel dining room which was as elegant as when I dined there fifteen years (or more ) ago.
“Will visit again”
Very quaint and personal. Intimate lounge.
“Not as nice as I expected”
Service and location were excellent. I was dissappointed with how the hotel was maintained. I realize that this is an old property, but in light of this management would be wise to attend to details such as chipped paint and mirrors. Lack of attention to these details stole the charm from the property and left it with a feeling of disrepair. Tiny exercise room with two very old pieces of equipment and an outdated t.v. that didn't work at all. A little tlc would go a long way.
“Historic Comfort”
What a jewel; luxurious and comfortable. Only regrets are missing coffeemaker and microwave in room (a boon for room service, of course.)
“Fantastic hotel”
This is a fantastic hotel that lives up to its reputation for personalized service in a great location. One of the better ones I've been to in a while.
“Superb visit”
The staff at the Canterbury was most gracious and helpful. The hotel is intimate and very comfortable, unlike the large convention hotels. The room was small but adequate and very clean, as was the entire hotel.
“Great Location”
The Canterbury Hotel was perfect for me who was traveling alone in Indianapolis for the first time. It is about five blocks from the Convention Center and the stadiums which is great for walking in the daytime. In early morning I took a cab there for about $6. The hotel is attached to a small mall that is a nice distraction after a day at a conference. Lots of eating places in a variety of price ranges very close to the hotel. I didn't feel comfortable going out alone at night in this vicinity. The hotel staff was very helpful. The facility was sparkling clean and welcoming. The bed extremely comfy. My suggestion would be to update the wallpaper, etc. and add a business desk. However, the price was half the cost of some of the other hotels in the area and included free wireless unlike some of the pricier hotels. Be prepared for steep parking prices throughout the city. I would definitely return.
“Best Hotel in Indianapolis - will be back!”
I stayed here for 5 night whilest attending a national meeting at the convention center. The green airport shuttle dropped us off almost at the front door of the Canterbury Hotel at a fraction of the taxi fare. 1 1/2 blocks walk to the convention center could not have been more convenient. The mall and dozens of great restaurants are within 5 minutes walk. The room was spotless, the personnel was very professional and friendly. Great in-house restaurant and cozy bar. This Hotel reminds me of the many exclusive historical hotels in Europe. I will be back.
