NOT THE CANTERBURY

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: Location
Went for the weekend. Booked room online w/ Expedia. Staff acted like because I booked w/ Expedia that any issues were not their problem. Got into room. My closet was larger than this room. Room so small that only 1 night stand. The bed was so close to wall that I had to crawl out only to bang my knee on the wall corner. Only about 3-4" from wall. Room temp set at 65 but room was 74 deg. Booked room for 2 but in the room was only 1 set of towels, 1 robe. No in room coffee, Ice bucket so small that it was useless. Hotel "brochure" did not tell where ice was. Called front desk 3 times-no answer. Finally went down to ask were ice was. It was not on my floor. Room was so hot and claustrophobic that we checked out early and left at about 6am. Bed should have been on other side of room, this room was apparently meant for 1. For the price I will stay in a more comfortable hotel. The rooms were clean but very uncomfortable due to temperature and size. Had I known I would have to crawl in & out of bed and crack my knee & shin on a wall in the dark I would have booked a room elsewhere. This could have been helped if the bed was on the other side of the room where at least two night stands would fit. The microscopic rooms are a major turn off. Décor in room very modern unlike the historic nature of the structure. Quite disappointing. Wont be back & we stay downtown once or twice a month.

Not what we expected

Posted Jul 17, 2015
Pros: Everyone was well mannered.
Cons: They need to pay more attention to details.
Location: The location is excellent. That's why we stayed there in the first place.
We stayed here before the renovation and it was excellent. This time it left a lot to be desired. We arrived around midnight and were met at the door by a man in a white tee shirt that offered to park the car. His attire certainly didn't give me enough confidence to offer my keys. He followed us to the desk and it turns out he was the valet. Quite a nice fellow in fact, he even offered to go to the 24 hour diner and get us something to eat. The room was one of the smallest I've ever slept in. The king bed barely had enough clearance to walk around. It appeared to be two individual bed frames positioned next to one another and covered with a thin (1/2inch) mattress pad. It didn't work well because one side was about 2 inches lower than the other. There was no sitting chair and the rest of the accommodations seemed to be set for one person. ie: 1 bottled water 1 set of towels etc. The bath was nice enough but the shower was slippery when wet and there were no hand rails.

Hotel of choice when traveling to Indy.

Pros: Maybe a seasonal menu at the restaurant?
I was one of the first guests to stay at this property opening week almost a year ago. Since, I have had the opportunity be a guest at this property over a dozen times. The staff always makes you feel like family, so if your looking for a property that isn't so cookie cutter then I would highly recommend. In short, Frank and his team do an amazing job.

Pros: location and staff
Cons: coffee maker in room
Location: shopping, restaurants and museums
Hotel staff was extremely helpful, especially the valet and bell boy service. They gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and directions to numerous places.

Nice hotel.

This newly renovated hotel was a great place to stay. The staff was awesome. Very friendly and helpful. You can't beat the location if you have plans in the city. Right next door to some of the best dining in Indy at St. Elmo's. Lots of bars and shopping close by and Lucus Oil Stadium is about 2 blocks away.

Stylish hotel

The hotel is comfortable, stylish and clean. But there is only one night stand, one bath robe and one bottle water in my room for two guests. The complimentary coffee is nice.

Very clean, updated, close to everything downtown. Small room but very sufficient.
