Very nicely renovated Château! The location is fantastic for exploring the Loire Valley, but the Château is a bit isolated. Our room was awesome, and we enjoyed the breakfast. Besides being a bit isolated, the only thing we didn’t care for was the service. This is really more of an upscale B&B than a hotel, and the desk staff ran the full gamut of helpfulness. The first night, we couldn’t have asked for more! The second, the nice man at the desk was something between unhelpful and confrontational! The brochure in our room said that the breakfast room, while it only served breakfast, was always available for picnics/eating in. On our second night, when we asked about eating our picnic dinner in the breakfast room, we were told that it is not allowed, but we could use the kitchen on the first floor. As it turns out, this seemed to be more of a staff break room with mix-and-match cutlery and chipped/broken mix-and-match dishes than a guest kitchen. It was ANYTHING but what we were looking for! When I showed the desk attendant the hotel’s guest brochure from our room which clearly said the breakfast room was always available, he said it must be a mistake, and maybe the brochure was old. Honestly, I was stunned that anyone at a “hotel” that holds itself out to be a 4* hotel would even consider that such an interaction was acceptable! All in all, great facility w(exceptionally average service at best. No bar/restaurant (except for breakfast service), and Wifi spotty.
