Great location for visiting Chateau Villandry when it opens at 9am before the crowds. Superb cheese board with their set menu. Property needs updating but good value if you want to be in Villandry.

Probably the worst hotel we have stayed in.
No lift to take disabled guests to rooms on 1st floor. No air conditioning or fans on a very hot day 41 degrees. Small table fan produced on demand from the bar so nobody else got one. Very basic room with an empty fridge. No cold water or drinks. No extractor in toilet so bedroom a bit smelly. 19.50E dinner was awful. Fish was frozen. T-bone veal was in edible as it was tough. This hotel should be taken off Hotels.com list or be re-classified as a 1star at 30E not 72E and clearly shown to be unsuitable for disabled guests and lacking air conditioning.

Very friendly
Very friendly 2 ladies on Reception and running the dining room. In fact we didn't see any other hotel staff so if the 2 ladies are running the Hotel themselves they are doing an amazing job. Dinner was also excellent.

A partly renovated hotel
Hotel website says it has had recent renovation. The public spaces, lobby, bar area and dining room are excellent. The rooms, bathrooms and corridors have tired/very tired decor, though cleanliness was good. Bed, large, comfortable and immaculate.Bathroom, quite tired fittings and tiles. Food very good. Should be better for the room rate.

Hotel close to Chauteau
The lady who appears to be in charge or the "lead", is most pleasant and helpful. The restrauant is nice and the food very good. Room is simple. Some minor repairs need to be made to remove agravations (sticking sliding door to the dinning room).

A friendly hotel.
Second time here. The hotel is in need of a bit of TLC but this is purely for cosmetic reasons. It is comfortable, convenient for the chateau, and staffed by the most friendly, helpful people.

The hotel is very well located, just a few minutes walk from the castle and the beautiful gardens. I don't think the description mentions it but there is parking for hotel customers. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to those visiting the area.

Our stay here was disappointing, given what we were expecting from pictures. We were shown to a room in a separate annexe outside of the main hotel building, above a bar and restaurant. This was reasonably clean and comfortable, however there was loud music for 3 hours until midnight from below, making it impossible to sleep. When telling this to hotel staff in the morning the response was simply 'je ne sais pas!'. The bathroom had no shower curtain and so water went everywhere. It was good to have off street parking for our bicycles.

Good service in lovely hotel
We had a great stay at the Cheval Rouge. Well-placed for the chateau de Villandry. A comfortable and spacious room. Adequate breakfast. Pleasant staff. We would definitely recommend this to anyone.

A little tired, but...
We used this hotel for an overnight stay on our journey to Gascony. We had hoped to visit the chateau which is next door but the weather precluded this. (I am sure this was no fault of the hotel!) Our room was in need of a bit of TLC but comfortable and clean. We ate in the restaurant in the evening. The food was very good and the staff extremely efficient and helpful. We made an early start before breakfast the following morning. It was still raining!!!

The staff was very professional and helpful. They have an excellent restaurant and staff was very efficient and helpful. The room was not very comfortable just basic. The bathroom was Extremely awkward with the toilet in a very tiny room the seat was loose and would tip when used very annoying. The sink and shower were in separate rooms but extremely small. Glad we were not in the room much. Great location near many sights

Hotel located in quaint little town next to chateau Villandry. Excellent restaurant. Located in beautiful countryside. Hotel a bit dated in its furnishings but the price was reasonable. Rented bikes and had wonderful ride along river through small towns. Staff mostly good except one male staff who was rude and insolent to many guests and the experience affected our view of our stay.

Bonjour, juste pour une nuit à deux, c'est le minimum. À notre arrivée une serviette très sale traînait dans la chambre...pas très sérieux. Pas d'ascenseur, quand on est au deuxième étage avec quelques bagages lourds c'est pas cool. Enfin, le prix à plus de 90 € la nuit avec petit déjeuner c'est un peu cher pour une chambre vieillotte. Heureusement que le personnel est accueillant. Rapport qualité prix pas vraiment top...ou alors pour une seule nuit.

Un hôtel très bien situé avec un parking. Très pratique pour visiter le château de Villandry qui est accessible à pied. Un petit rafraîchissement de peinture et un changement de tapis serait la bienvenue car on a l'impression que l'intérieur n'est pas entretenu.

nous avons passé une excellente nuit à l'hôtel du cheval rouge au pied du château de Villandry, très bon accueil avec tout le protocole de déconfinement que nous subissons actuellement. Grande chambre, calme et un super grand lit. Salle de bains très propre et fonctionnelle, seul petit regret l'espace restreint des toilettes. Repas du soir au restaurant de l'hôtel très bon et variés.
