Lovely peaceful hotelPosted Mar 26, 2014
We were warmly welcomed by a very nice young man who showed us around the downstairs area I failed to get his name but very pleasant. The hotel very impressive in the panelled restaurant and the first night there was a roaring fire unfortunately we couldn't get anywhere near it as monopolised by other guests all night. There was a billiard room which my partner and I took advantage of and had a good laugh. Food was excellent and other staff attentive and always checking if we needed anything else. Our bedroom was nice a little tired in areas but I guess it was part of the charm. Found there wasn't any signal which meant we couldn't use our phones or internet which was a lovely break away from the outside world. We had excellent weather and would love to return to Skye and skeabost country house hotel.

A little out of the way, but very good.Posted Oct 5, 2013
Pros: The staff, the warm atmosphere, and the relatively close proximity to Portree.
Cons: 1) Driveway MUST be repaired. You will damage your vehicle on the potholes if don't drive slowly and carefully. 2) Improve bathroom!
Location: Dunvegan Castle is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. Harbor View Restaurant in Portree is exquisite! Make a booking early.
The wonderful staff are the best part of the Skeabost. Check-in, cocktails and breakfast were pleasant and efficient. Staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations. Lots of nice little features throughout the inn: an English pool table, multiple lounges, bar, comfortable dining room and warm atmosphere. The room was comfortable, but the bathroom was tiny, inefficient, and wet. Commode area is cramped, and shower had only half a door, which caused water to go everywhere. Request extra towels!

Skeabost Country HousePosted Oct 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
A nice old country house hotel. The public rooms are very nice, staff friendly and the food was very good. The rooms could have done with a little bit of re-decoration, but otherwise a reasonable hotel.

Piece of Skye Heaven - Honeymoon stopPosted Oct 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed for 2 nights as part of our larger Scotland honeymoon/tour. Beautiful and convenient location on Skye if you're touring the island loop. Gorgeous scenery. Close to Portree, Dunvegan, Three Chimneys and Talisker. Lovely former romantic hunting lodge converted to a hotel. Complimentary whisky, umbrellas, pool/snooker table, etc.. Staff goes above and beyond with local tips (directions/restaurants) and help (computer/business.) Many thanks to Kat and Jamie for the good conversation and laughs!

Needs a facelift!Posted Sep 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is in a lovely location but on first impressions the hotel is very grotty on the outside. The lobby is lovely and appears very grand. When we arrived there was only one girl (who was very helpful) on reception but she also had to run the bar, restaurant and show people to their room so it appeared very understaffed and rushed. We were told that on the morning before we arrived the window in our room has fallen out and smashed but it had been replaced. When we went into the room we were hit with an immense smell of gloss paint and it was extremely hot as there were heaters on full to try and try the paint. I explained that as I was pregnant I could not be in a room that smelt of gloss. We were then given another room with no trouble. This room was a bit run down and the bed was very uncomfortable. I was shocked that we were initially given a room that stank of fumes if there were clearly other rooms available in the first place. Even if I had not been pregnant I would not have expected to stay in a room with paint fumes!

Can't say enough great things about this place!Posted Sep 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed at multiple hotels during our trip in Scotland and this was by far, our favorite! The hotel is situated in a BEAUTIFUL location on the mountainside by a lovely river. There is a golf course on site and plenty of outdoor activities. The hotel itself is REALLY lovely with gorgeous common rooms. We booked 2 superior rooms and they were OUTSTANDING. We had multiple meals on site and they were all WONDERFUL! And then the staff was AMAZING!! Every single person was kind, courteous and very helpful!! Cat and Jamie were particularly helpful! Upon leaving this hotel, we immediately missed being there. I hope that we get the opportunity to stay here again!
hotel needs some cleaning and renovationPosted Sep 6, 2013
Cons: it needs renovation
Location: located in a peaceful place. it is 10 minutes by car to portree where you can find good restaurants with excellent seafood.
the room was quite big and must have been nice in its younger days. the bathroom was quite clean but the room itself was not clean enough, for example there was a very old spider's web when I opened the curtains. the bed was big but was not very comfortable and was very noisy. the staff was very polite when you could find one.

Our stay was a short leisure visit of Skye.Posted Aug 27, 2013
Pros: The premises and the traditional charm of the furnishings and high ceilings in the entire mansion. It joins tradional style with homely confort.
Cons: The toilette plumbing was sticking at first but the repair service was prompt and friendly.
Location: It is a quiet, lovely location with a 9 hole golf course right on the premises and beautiful mansion styled shared rooms. Stay and enjoy it on site.
This traditional country house and golf club hotel is so charming and inviting with its beautiful premises, that we decided to spend one full day and evening enjoying its charm and dinning. It is a wonderful getaway to retreat to and relax.
