Old, needs an update.
I was very disappointed with our stay at Sierra Lago. It took nearly an hour to drive up to the resort (16k) on a slow-going, bumpy road. None of the staff spoke English which made it very difficult to communicate some of the questions and concerns we had. Our "suite" was a rustic cabin that was in dire need of an update. The toilet did not flush properly, the bath/jacuzzi was absolutely gross and not cleaned, and if you were not careful, you could have fallen off the elevated "loft" bedroom because there were no rails on the steps. As a agile 35 year old, my biggest fear was falling off the elevated bedroom. I would not feel confident at all having my elderly parents stay here as they would break bones or hurt themselves if they fell at all. The room needed so many upgrades. The worst of all was just how dirty and dusty the room was. We began to fill the jacuzzi tub and a brown foam formed where the water line was because of how unused and not clean the inside of the tub was. Outside of each cabin were large bags of towels and supplies just stored against the cabin. A security guard also drove his very noisy dirt bike around the property at midnight one night shining lights around the cabin. The trip wasn't relaxing and, for what we paid, was not worth it!

Situated next to a beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains, the cabins are impeccable. Service provided was friendly and very professional. The web site really does not adequately describe that “all-inclusive” is not just the regular stuff expected at beach resorts - this restaurant is five-star!! A special getaway from a beach vacation to something entirely different from your expectations. This is worth a try, even if you are only in Puerto Vallarta for a week, as it adds a completely different dimension.

This property was wonderful. Our cabin was well furnished and very fresh and clean. The options for activities were great. We chose to hike to a high peak that had a 360 degree view of the Sierra Madres and valleys below. Getting here was an adventure. Two hours to Mascota on very winding roads and then a 25K trek up the mountain. I had a regular rental car and negotiating the winding, rocky road up to the gates of the hotel was quite stressful. I would recommend a 4WD with high clearance. Watching the stars here on a clear night is spectacular. Food was excellent and drinks were top notch. First time in the mountains in Mexico, and it was wonderful. A nice contrast to the beaches in PV area.

Picture perfect scenary
This is my fourth time going to Sierra Lago, and I can honestly say that this time I enjoyed it the most. The scenary is beautiful, the weather in July is amazing even with the occasional rain throughout the day. I have taken my family every time, and know one has ever said that they did not enjoy their stay. Sierra Lago has done some extensive remodeling, and it is truly an amazing resort. The service from the staff is incredible, the cabins are in great condition, and very clean. The food is very good, as are the drinks. If you want a very memorable and peaceful vacation, you will not go wrong with Sierra Lago (La Laguna de Juanacatlan)!

The views and setting are amazing, it can either be a romantic getaway or a great family vacation. The hotel grounds are impeccable, the food is delicious, and the staff is friendly, competent and helpful. You will truly enjoy your stay.

Amazing place, peaceful and quiet, great food
Booked one night to get out of Puerto Vallarta for a bit. This place is about a 2 1/2 drive from PV and well worth it. I will be going back.

R&R at Sierra Largo
The road to Sierra Largo was a little scary driving during the rain, but once you reach the resort you are in paradise. Beautiful resort, food and views. Our stay was all about relaxing and the food and we enjoyed our cozy beautiful room and the restaurant. The only knock is that the bed was a 4 star in a 5 star resort in my opinion and I'm being picky here.

Amazing jewel high up in the mountains near Mascot
The road in is very basic, with the last 7 km comparable to a logging road of dirt with rocks and ruts. Not for the faint of heart, or anyone without 4 wheel drive or an adventure type of motorcycle with an experienced rider. Once you get there, it is a magical experience complete with beautiful accommodations, fine dining, a well kept grounds with tennis courts, bicycles, horseback riding, kayaking, and a full spa service, etc. The staff were wonderful and attentive. My only complaint besides the road was a lack of hot water in the bathroom.

Romantic getaway
It was a romantic getaway, the location enhanced the romance to the highest levels. We will definetely return to this piece of heaven on earth. Don't let the remoteness and difficulty of access to the location dissuade you, once there you will be amazed.

Great Location, but lacking comfort
Incredible location with fabulous scenery. However the rooms were not comfortable, with very hard beds, poor quality sheets, no iPOD docking station. My suite had a poor chimney design which caused all my room to fill with smoke while I was at the restaurant for dinner. The Spa is limited, with one male therapist only. Food is "OK" but not great.

My friend and I celebrated our birthdays and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. The location is just breathtaking (little rough an the way up). The staff was very friendly and the food was scrumsumptious. We found our rooms very clean, with coffee, tea and other little snacks. We are going to go back next year for our birthdays again.

muy bonita para desconectarte de la rutina, recomiendo llevar juegos de mesa para matar el tiempo y ropa abrigadora ya que baja mucho la temperatura por la noche, es excelente para vacaciones tranquilas en familia. No hay señal de telefono, solo el wifi del lugar

Es un lugar espectacular, parece que estás en otro país, cuidan mucho cada detalle y las vistas a la Laguna y sus jardines y el reflejo del cielo en el agua es increíble, el único inconveniente es la llegada, ya que tienes que subir 18 km por camino rural y los últimos 10 por empedrado, pero vale la pena al llegar, ya que te recibe una vista de un árbol naranja y la vista a la Laguna. La comida espectacular y un servicio de primera.

Excelente calidad
Las instalaciones, la calidad de alimentos y bebidas así como el servicio brindado por todo el personal es magnífico. Si vas en auto, considera una camioneta ya que en el trayecto entre Mascota y el hotel existen tramos en donde se dificulta el acceso con un automovil.
