Don't limit yourself to Interior; Western South Dakota has plenty of man-made and natural attractions waiting to be explored. Wall, 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the southeast, and Kadoka, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the west of Interior are also well worth checking out.
While you are in Interior, why don't you experience Rapid City. Approximately 65 miles (105 kilometers) away, this regional city is where you'll find Watiki Water Park, Rushmore Mall and Fountain Springs Golf Course. Central States Fairgrounds, The Journey Museum and Reptile Gardens are some more attractions here that should be included on every traveler's schedule.
To get a real sense of a place, it's often helpful to understand the past. Western South Dakota's rich archeological sites are a great place to start.
Pull on your woollen hat and mittens and go cross-country skiing or skiing. Both of these are popular with locals and tourists alike. Bird watching and shore fishing are just some of the great other activities in the Western South Dakota area.
When the time comes to say goodbye to Interior, head to the nearest major airport located in Rapid City, 60 miles (97 kilometers) to the west.
