Decent hotel with a great view

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: The view of the lake was outstanding.
Cons: The hotel needs to bring its facilities up to date.
Location: Swimming, boating, golfing... pretty much everything you would expect at a summer lake resort.
The rooms were very small and outdated. Without A/C, the kids room was very hot unless the door was left open which made it difficult for our child to sleep. The entire hotel could greatly benefit from a thorough modernization project.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone ever

Posted May 28, 2013
Pros: No favorites at this hotel.
Cons: Everything.
Location: Nice location, easy to find.
This hotel is run down, smelly, and unkept. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything (every word and noise) from the rooms surrounding you. The heater looked like something from the 1950's and smelled awful when we started it. There are no rules on quiet time, so people were running around yelling and slamming doors into the wee hours of the morning. The hotel staff were unfriendly and not helpful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone ever.

Biking at Okoboji

Posted Jun 5, 2012
Pros: Location, outdoor facilities.
Cons: 50s decor, price
Location is cool with lake just steps away, free golf and bike trails at the door. Trails unfortunately not well marked. We only stayed one day and ended up wasting a lot of time finding the trail. The trails which we found are excellent, scenic, flat--lots of trees, views of water.
