DisappointingPosted Oct 21, 2013
Hallways smelled like cigarette smoke. The room was not clean; stains on walls & doors, the light switches, door knobs & phone etc were filthy. Opened both beds to find long black hair & stains on the blankets. Called the desk for clean ones & they had me go down to the laundry area to get them!

Dissatisfied CustomerPosted Aug 25, 2013
Cons: building maintenance, better-larger beds, more truth in your advertising, staff that speak English and is more informed on the community and facility
Location: location was good but things to do and eating establishments minimal
We were extremely dissatisfied with our experiences at Super 8's. They advertise queen beds and they were barely full size and hard as a rock. The door handles were falling off to the bathroom and the shower grab bar and over flow were rusted. We were in a smoking room but the room had a terrible odor to it. We were also unable to understand the staff and the person who checked us in was not very knowlageble about the community or the facility. This was the second Super 8 we stayed in this month and both experiences have completely turned us away from staying at a Super 8 in the future.

DisappointedPosted Aug 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
Although everything looked very clean, the halls smelled musty and our room smelled like air freshener covering mold smells. We were told the mattress were a year old, but they were somewhat uncomfortable, and both my husband and I woke up stiff. Plus, the hotel allowed pets. There was a dog barking and a cat meowing during the daytime hours, once waking me up from a nap. Breakfast was good and staff was friendly, but we would not recommend staying there.

Smoking rooms are awful! Stay at Sleep Inn insteadPosted Jul 26, 2013
Pros: Nothing - we couldn't stay in the smoking room.
Cons: Smell - both in hotel itself and in rooms.
Location: Nothing to do in Esthervile. In the summer this is purely for people and families willing to sacrifice 20 minutes to save significant money.
We didn't actually stay here even though we booked two nights. I somehow didn't see that we requested a smoking room on Expedia and when we got there all the other rooms were taken. The smoking smell was so strong that it was intolerable for me and my family of five. We ended up going to a very nice hotel across the street. The hotel staff at Super 8 was sorry about the problem, but they couldn't do anything - it wasn't their fault. The entire hotel did smell of the food the office staff were eating. Some kind of Indian or other Asian food. The room itself looked okay. Very basic, nothing fancy - about what you would expect for the price. The hotels in Estherville seem like spill-over from the expensive and often full Okoboji hotels. Some clientele were families with children and dare I say white trash?

Good Choice When Passing Through EsthervillePosted Jun 23, 2013
Pros: The location and price were good.
Cons: One could smell smoke in the halls - our room was non-smoking and was perfectly fine.
Location: Emmett County Museum was a surprise - quite the collection! Nice Midwest town to explore.
We made a quick stop in Estherville on our way to a wedding ~ We made reservations a few months before the trip, knowing that Estherville would make a nice stop. No problems with check-in. We had an early departure the following morning and grabbed a cup of coffee before heading out - the breakfast room was filled with other folks who also had the same idea. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but it looked like a reasonable selection.
