Glorious Ischia Porto coast
Posted Jan 7, 2013
This is the second visit to Pagoda. Rooms are plain but absolutely fine. It's in a fantastic position over looking the bay , nearby island Procida, with the mainland and Vesuvius on the horizon. It's just five minutes from Ischia Porto with lovely restaurants for different budgets. Brilliant wood oven cooked pizza from 4 Euro ! The main bus station for the island is in the town and this makes getting round the island easy. A three day ticket is 13 Euro. Bus trips are lively so hold on tight. There is entry level snorkelling off the lower hotel sun bathing area - my ten quid mask worked a treat. Smashing hotel pool with cold water jacuzzis up a level. Breakfast is basic but OK. You must ask for the proper coffee of your choice. It you go don't miss Castle Aragonese - half an hour brisk walk; Maronti beach; Sorgeto Bay - free access to thermal pools on the sea but 20 mins hill walk from bus stop; Sant Angelo, ; Forio ; trip to Pietratorcia vineyard; amazing La Mortella gardens with 5 pm concerts at the weekend; walk up Epomeo mountain ; haven't tried paid for thermal parks but I hear Poseidon and Negombo are the best Overall this place is about Location Location Location

good value
Posted Jan 6, 2013
Pros: Location and price
Cons: Requirement to wear swimming hat in the pool
Location: Ideal
Good value hotel, close to the ferries, buses and restaurants etc. Bit annoying that you were required to wear swimming hats to go in the pool. There was quite a bit of rubbish floating in the sea next to the hotel so we didn't use either of these facilities but headed to negombo instead. Breakfast was simple but ample. Whilst not being luxurious, for the price we paid, it's a comfortable and clean hotel. It was also quiet and the free safe in the room a bonus in terms of security.

Well situated hotel on Ischia.

Pros: Swimming pool and all the outside surroundings of the hotel.
Cons: Spa pools were a bit chilly.
Location: Fantastic location - very picturesque and conveniient for the harbour and exploring Ischia Town.
Helpful and friiendly staff. Very convenient for the ferry - less than 5 minutes walk. Lovely swimming pool and beatifully placed on a promontory looking out to other islands and the sea on three sides. We intend to visit this hotel again and stay longer.

Biggest little secret in all of Ischia!!
Posted Jan 18, 2012 on Hotels.com
We absolutely loved our short stay at the Pagoda Hotel and Residence! The convience of location was a big plus. The surroundings of the hotel were amazing. We arrived early and were able to use the facilities. Although the beach is rather rockey, we were able to locate a small sandy area just a few feet away from the hotel. The hotel had a great feel to it and the sunsets and rises were amazing. The staff went out of their way to accomodate us by calling a cab to take us to Sargeto which is only assisable by taxi. For the price, it's the best buy in all of Ischia especially if you are there to explore the many sites Ischia has to offer like the Thermal parks which are a must. We visited Negombo which I would highly reccommend to anyone visiting Ischia. A short walk to many wonderful resturants situated alongside of the bay this is one place that I would highly reccommend and definately stay at again and again!

Great base for exploring Ischia
Posted Jan 8, 2012
Pros: Great setting, convenient location, quality room, comfortable bed
Cons: Biting insects around the pool area, lack of cooking facilities/healthy food options
I stayed for 6 days, and it was a lovely setting on a small outcrop to one side of the harbour, so it's only a two-minute walk to the ferry - and just five minutes from Ischia town's main restaurants, shops and beach, plus buses to everywhere else on the island - yet still very quiet. The hotel has its own pool plus three jacuzzis, and there's a rock platform for swimming in the sea. I'd recommend upgrading to the superior sea view apartments - the view in the morning and evening from your private terrace area is well worth it. The other rooms don't have such a good view. My suite had TVs in the lounge and bedroom, plus a free wall safe - which was a nice touch as most other hotels charge extra for that. There's a fridge in the lounge area but technically you're not supposed to bring food and drink onto the premises. The breakfast buffet is great if you love sweet bread, chocolate-filled pastries, sugary cereals and yoghurts and coffee - but don't expect anything healthy. I didn't eat dinner there as it was set menu without an English translation and the waiters weren't able to explain what everything was when I did sit down to try it out. The women at the reception desk were a lot more helpful, possibly because they spoke better English (I found that there were more Italians and German visitors on the island than from other nations, so perhaps there is less reason for the locals to speak English). All in all, a very pleasant hotel and very convenient in its location.

Location, location, location.

As the saying goes, location, location, location. The Pagoda is directly next to Ischia Porto which provided the very best for views and for coming and going on the island. Equally the main bus station was conveniently close by. Restaurants ran along the port side and provided a wide variety of culinary delights. Ahna and Daniel in the office were wonderful to us, they helped give us the lay-of-the-land. Our room was clean, the bed's mattress was firm and that is what mattered to us. End of September was relatively quiet but when someone took the apartment upstairs with children and walking around in hard-heeled shoes it was click, click click all night long from above and children crying could be heard. Our bathroom lights consisted of two sconces with 10W bulbs with no overhead ceiling lights and only one switch that ran both fan and lights making it dim. Breakfast was well supplied, except for a couple of times when the juices ran out; coffee and coffee cups had to be requested to replenish. Cappachino was made at the bar but the personel never cracked a smile or acted like they wanted to be there. Had to remember that smoking (being a non-smoker) in Europe is prevasive; with heavy smokers next door, heard them hacking all night and had to close door in the middle of the night because of the smell of smoke. Just a few changes would bring higher ratings; as indicated location and price made it a pleasant enough stay to consider returning for future vacations.

Beautiful hotel with poor pool
Posted Jan 12, 2012
Hotel was nice and the location extremely beautiful. Walking distance to central shopping area and restaurants. Room was surprisingly big, although needed some update (especially the bathroom). Some inconveniences like only one bedside table and drinking glass in a room for two. There were no place for shampoo and soap in shower and the toiletteries were poor. The room with seaview and terrace was actually a room with poolview. Terrace was at the pooldeck with no privacy during daytime. At breakfast was only served sweet croissants and cakes, no bread or cheese/ham etc. Pool was a big disappointment! There seemed to be no rules at all so children and teenagers were constantly running around the pooldeck and jumping to water without allowing anybody else swimming. Weekend was the worst when families from Naples came... It should be pointed out clearly that the pool is apparantly meant for children only. So if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet holiday by the pool, this hotel is not for you.
