Good location, noisyPosted Jan 1, 2014
We stayed around chrismas, off course there where parties. But we could not understand why construction at the hotel had to start at 7am.

Kind and responsive when any request was made.Posted Aug 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
The room did not look at all like the photos- only a bed and side tables and no chair or table. The "garden-view" was of the stair-well, the workers quarters and their tinaca .However, it was inexpensive,a nice size, quiet, had lovely gardens and a pool, free wifi, air-conditioning, and it was clean. When I needed more towels and asked to have an hour delay on check-out, the staff was very friendly, kind and accommodating.I would recommend the hotel for economy, location, and kind service. I would stay there again- I just might request a more attractive view.

Rooms smelled like mildewPosted Apr 8, 2013
The rooms smelled like mildew and the furniture, bed coverings were very old and tired. Was very disappointed - i only stayed there because it was close to the ferry on the last night before I left. Would not bother the next time, the island is small and most of the accommodation off the square is very close as well.

Kind treatmentPosted Jan 5, 2012 on Hotels.com
Nice place, best breakfast in town. Mariam and Tania were so very pleasant and good to me. The ONLY drawback is that Casa Barbara is not on the beach. It's close, but you can't hear the waves. If this is not so important for you, by all means stay here. They will treat you right.

Great base for swimming with the whale sharks-beautiful and laid backPosted Aug 4, 2011
We went to Isla Holbox for the first time to swim with the whale sharks. As a family on a budget, this trip was worth every penny. The hotel was beautiful and well built. It was in a quiet area of town and yet plenty close to walk to the plaza and the beach. The gardens were exceptional and the pool was a welcome treat after spending all day on a boat and in the salt water. We thought we might miss being right on the beach but didn't miss staying on the beach at all. The a/c worked great. Isla Holbox itself was better than we expected-very laid back and comfortable, kind of like our family. We hope to go back to Isla Holbox and would not hesitate to stay at Casa Barbara again.

Hotel Casa BarbaraPosted Jul 21, 2011 on Hotels.com
This hotel was a pleasure to stay at. The rooms were clean, and had lots of little details, including water bottles, internet and cable. The staff was very kind and always helpful... they even had a fire above the reception, but were happy to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. They immediately began repairs as well, and we left with an interesting story. They did knock on our door at 2am, and we didnt realize until the morning that anything had happened. It was nice to know if there was any danger that we were being watched and that they are avaialble and helpful. I think for the price that this hotel is a steal, it is a short walk off the ferry, and a short walk to the beach, (5 min!!) why pay more for the beachside hotels when it is that close? Excellent place, and we would stay again. Also, there are golf cart rentals a few doors down, and a quick ride to secluded beaches, horseback riding, and watching the flamingoes.

Isla Holbox HotelPosted Feb 28, 2011 on Hotels.com
Casa Barbara was great. It is a few blocks from the beach but the landscaping is amazing. It is like a jungle with all types of plants and a nice swimming pool . Plenty of comfortable chairs and lounges and lots of sun or shade depending on what you want. It is very quiet at night since the rooms are back off the street. Speaking of rooms, they are large, very clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. Bathroon is two rooms with separate shower and toilet. Internet rates are the best. I would definately stay again when I go back.
